Megan Parsons Gets Dying Wish To Be Buried Next To Mother, Thanks To Anonymous Donor

Megan Parsons

Megan Parson's last wish was to be buried next to her mother, who died several years from Machado Joseph's Disease.

Megan, who died weeks ago, also suffered from the disease, which attacks the central nervous system, WXYZ reports.

Last year, when doctors gave Megan just weeks to live, her family realized they couldn't afford the $6,000 it would take to make her wish come true.

That is, until WXYZ's Bill Spencer aired her story, and the donations flooded in.

One viewer who wished to remain anonymous contributed the full amount. It moved Parson's sister, Melissa Yoerg, to tears.

"Oh my God, she's going to get her wish, she's going to get what she wants at last," Yoerg said. "Thank you so much, God bless. Thanks, Bill," she said.

Thanks to the donations, Megan was buried just a few feet away from her mother's grave.

I so respect this anonymous donor, not only for their generosity but for not publicizing how great they are. That is true charity.

It's always nice to see heartwarming stories of human kindness.
It restores ones faith in people..we mostly see so much hate & evil...
it validates that compassion & kindness still exist.

this is why private sector will always be superior in everyway to gov't mgt. of these sorts of things. imagine how much money the libs could have wasted trying to force everyone to by for this.

great story, sad contrast to what the left marches on toward.

This story is heartwarming and the donor deserves great thanks.

But it is an example of an area that private charity can and should perform well. As opposed, for example, to health insurance, consumer, labor, and environmental protections, public safety, etc. where the private sector has a dismal record.

Thats so very kind of the person who granted the $6000. God bless him, and may Megans last days be pain free, surrounded by loved ones with her favorite music playing and her loved ones holding her hands and massaging her feet. Ive seen hundreds of people die in the ICU, and it can be a profoundly beautiful experience. Home hospise is better, but sometimes impossible due to insurance/family availability issues. The saddest things Ive ever seen are people who die alone because they have no friends at all....If time permits I try to sit with them and sing songs quietly...anything that comes to mind. I hold thier hand and look in their eyes and tell them they are not alone. I wish we could bring a small cat and dog in the unit, at least those people could have a pet of their choice snuggled up next to them when their time comes.

Bless you - you are providing a wonderful service. I volunteer for Hospice of the Valley here in Phoenix, and they don't turn away anyone who is terminal (certified by a doctor) - insurance or no. They have palliative care units for those who cannot receive care at home for whatever reason. They also have a volunteer pet program and the therapy pets are allowed in the PCUs - if the patient/family requests one of the animal volunteers can be brought in if possible.

I feel so sorry for the cynics here and those who are jealous of the money the family received. This is truly a “feel good” story that tells of the good in most people. For all of you who like the way this family was treated, and especially for those of you who are just concerned with the money and are skeptical of the family…May god bless you. I hope that if there ever comes a time when you need help someone will be there for you.

What a wonderful thing to do for another person ! Makes you believe there's still hope for all of us out there !

Actually, I didn't see any tears...even the sisters eyes were dry. People feel it necessary to respond emotionally a certain way and will fake crying if it makes them look like they're responding the way they think everybody wants them to. Sickening.

Keep in mind that events such as this are intended to benefit the living for the dead know not where they are buried. Non-the-less, it is heart warming to know that there are many charitable individuals in this world who have hearts as big as the world itself.

It just warms my heart to know that there still are good people on this planet that are willing to help without having to profit from it in some way. What a wonderful story.

Do you think the only expense of a funeral is the burial site? Do you think this poor family doesnt have medical bills? They desperately wanted to bury their family together. You think they took the rest and went to Vegas? Maybe they bought another plot for the sister so she too can be buried with her mother. Maybe they donated it to the charity for her disease. What the H do you care? Why, when reading something that gives a person some hope for the human race does there always have to be some cynical, A hole who has to make a nice story negative? Maybe after the donations came "rolling in" someone donated the rest of what was needed. Try to be a little optimistic once in a while.

Gives me hope that an anonymous donor (or a few) will still come forward to help my friend, Heather's cousin. Kristy is in kidney renal failure and has to raise $5,500 to get on the transplant list in October. The family has had bake sales, yard sales, car washes, auctions, and sold items to thrift stores to raise the money. So far we've raised $1,238... with $4,262 to go. Until I met Kristy, I never knew you had to PAY before you could get onto the transplant list.

If you would like to read more about Kristy and maybe become that miracle that's needed, please visit this website: http://www.giveforward.com/kidneyforkristy

You are new to this game aren't you? Good luck with the fundraising. You are going to need MUCH MUCH more than $5,500 though. If you haven't already, contact the NKF sometimes they can help.
