'Mike & Molly' Star Melissa McCarthy To Launch Plus-Size Clothing Line (PHOTOS)

"Mike & Molly" star Melissa McCarthy had a winning night at the Emmys two weeks ago, when she picked up the award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy.

But turns out the plus-size comedic actress, also known for her scene-stealing role in "Bridesmaids," had trouble finding a red-carpet-worthy gown for the big event.

McCarthy told The Hollywood Reporter:

Trying to find stuff that's still fashion-forward in my size is damn near impossible. It's either for like a 98-year-old woman or a 14-year-old hooker, and there is nothing in the middle.

So, she took matters into her own hands, collaborating with dressmaker Daniella Pearl on a royal purple design for the momentous occasion.

And now, the paper reports that McCarthy is even planning to launch a plus-size clothing line for other women faced with similar concerns.

We're looking forward to seeing what she comes up with in time for awards season 2012 -- especially if she's a nominee. We'd love to see her in another bold-hued frock of her own creation ("intensely uncomfortable undergarments" optional).

Years ago, I tried to buy a pair of men's pants in a West Hollywood boutique. I asked the emaciated clerk for a size 34. He told me, "We don't carry much in the big sizes." Then he looked at me as if I just did a #2 on the floor.

I'm a average size guy and when I was in high school and college all the girls I was attracted to were the 12-16 size maybe it was their witt, humor or daring to be great, Good luck melissa.

Instead of another plus size clothing line, you know what we need? A clothing line for average sized women. I wear a size 12. A "normal" size 12 is hard to find and doesn't seem to fit quite right (gaping waistbands, inseam too long or too short) and a "plus size" 12 is too large everywhere. Bring on the role model for an average sized female!

I think she's fabulous, smart and funny. I changed the channel on SNL last night when it became apparent every single joke was about her weight. Is it so impossible to look at an overweight person and see them as anything other than "the fat one?"

Any one who questions if an overweight woman could be beautiful, successful and with good self esteem, watch "Drop Dead Diva" on LIFE TV channel. And a great singer to boot!

Her clothes style is wonderful as well.
