Saturday night, NoVA Roller Derby has its inaugural bout against Maryland's Free State Roller Derby. It's the "Battle of the Beltway," taking place at the Dulles Sportsplex (21610 Atlantic Blvd., Sterling, Va.).
Advance tickets are sold out; they're $12 at the door. Doors open at 4:30 p.m., the bout starts at 5:30 p.m.
And if all this gets you thinking it's time to strap on your skates, you're in luck: The team will be hosting a Booty Camp roller derby basics session on Oct. 9.
