What happens to young women when planning their wedding and they pick out such outrageous gowns for their wedding party? Is it a hormonal thing that causes good taste to take a vacation?

Every bride to be should have a gay man friend who is fashion conscious to advise her, in a nice way, of what a disaster picking out a particular gown/fabric/color/material would be. Not to mention that her brides maids will never talk to her again.

My sister made the mistake of not listening to me. I'm gay, but I have no sense of fashion whatsoever (I've been told I dress like a Lesbian, or Neil Young, depending on your point of view). But I have eyes and when the dress lady came to my mom's house to do a fitting with her brides maids, I told sister they are all going to look like middle aged Mennonites in those gowns. I was right. In the photos, and in person they did look like middle aged Mennonite ladies. Not that there is anything wrong with middle aged Mennonite ladies. I know several and they are lovely people, but their dress sense is just a tad 19th century.

20 years later we look at those pics of the wedding and we laugh so hard, and my sister says "what was I thinking?". I never once said "I told you so".

It doesn't have to be a gay man friend. It can be any friend or family member with good taste. But don't expect a bride to listen if she has a "vision" of what her wedding should look like.

All was fine till I got to Inspiration. The colors and prints were so bright and bold I did a double take. I can only look at that for about 5 seconds.

Umm the sad part is in the 70 s I had a hair cut like that. Luckily I dont have enough hair to make that mistake again.
