America's Favorite Casual Restaurant Chains

First Posted: 10/03/11 03:24 PM ET   Updated: 10/04/11 01:17 PM ET

Market Force just released the results of its 4,500-person survey on casual dining. The results were tabulated by number of votes, and then the number of locations for each chain was factored in.

Because consumers being surveyed were more likely to have visited chains with more outposts, Market Force adjusted votes for chains' sizes. This meant that, if two chains got the same amount of votes, the smaller of the two would rank higher, as was the case for its fast food survey in August. Five Guys and In-N-Out were propelled to the top of that list, even though Chick-Fil-A received the highest number of raw votes. See the results of Market Force's fast food survey here and Zagat's fast food survey here. Flip through the slideshow below to see what casual dining chains are America's favorites.

Denny's may be known for its gut bomb menu items such as the mac n cheese patty melt, but survey participants were not so enthused with the offerings.

IHOP's pancakes look so delicious!!my god!! they are just mouthwatering..I wonder how they cook these pancakes. Do they have special equipment (http://www.pissedconsumer.com/consumer-reviews/appliances.html) or use ordinary pan? I've tried hundreds of times to make such puffy pancakes, but failed(

WHY BLAME AN "ALL YOU CAN EAT" RESTAURANT BECAUSE YOU CAN'T "PUSH AWAY FROM THE TABLE"? LOL! I CAN'T BELIEVE SOME OF THE COMMENTS HERE. CARRABA'S IS MY FAVORITE, WHATEVER CITY.

OUTBACK WAS MY FAVORITE IN MERRICK, NY, BUT THEY HIRED MORONS TO SERVE THE FOOD AND WHEN I COMPLAINED MY LOBSTER TAILS WERE BURNT TO THE SHELLS, THEY OFFERED ME A PIECE OF CHEESECAKE TO MAKE UP MY $62 DOLLAR BILL. SO THEY JUST LOST A LIFELONG CUSTOMER.

I find it hard to believe that they wouldn't replace your lobster tail, unless you ate most or the entire tail then complaiined. You would not believe how many people do that and expect a refund!

I think that many people refuse to admit how much they like Denny's do to its low-brow reputation. I see it & IHOP similar to the Walmart/Target comparisons. For Golden Corral, just as they really ramped up the TV advertisements & introduced their great $10 buffet campaign, my one & only local one (Dover, DE) went out of business.

Worst service ever. Ever. It's like they don't even want you to spend your money there.

The fact that Applebees made the list makes me want to kick a mentally challenged puppy. Applebees is the worse then the holocaust. There I said it. It is just that bad.

Dude: You have way bigger issues than the bill of fare at a restaurant. Seek help immediately.

I had some sort of chicken dish for lunch there, pretty good I thought. When I got back to the office I checked online and saw that it was 2,400 calories. I wished for a moment or two that I could be bulemic.

Golden Corral has the VERY BEST fried chicken from any restaurantm bar none. I have never been to one (and I have been to several different ones) that the food was not delicious and fresh. This is my all around favorite. Service is always friendly and attentative, which is a pleasure, too.

You know why the food at golden corral is always fresh? Just sit back and notice the people in there, it's like feeding time at the zoo. They're wolfing it down faster than the kitchen can cook it.

Industrialized food..no matter how you serve it, it's going to make you sick. I think it's time to "occupy" restaurant chains.
12:49 AM on 10/05/2011
Fine, but what do we do when we get hungry? Occupying places gives one an appetite you know.

I like red lobster in roanoke even though they stopped bringing out baskets of cheese bisquits. Now if there are two people they bring out like two bisquits and say they'll bring more later if you bother to ask. I stopped going to their sister outfit olive garden because they tried to foist a child's portion of lasagna on us at the adult portion price. We were like nice try. Outback gave us a gristly bloody pork chop once that couldn't be eaten. The manager stopped by, looked at it, smiled and walked away. Haven't been back since. Of course, to be fair, it was like seven years ago. TGIF is out. Last time, the waiter sat us in a booth and there was a framed picture of the three kennedy brothers staring at us. Yuch! We left without ordering. Sopranos are okay, but the kennedys? Nah.

Those biscuts are delicious. However, you can find the copycat recipe online. Works perfectly. Let me know if you cant find it and I will give you a link
