Political Ads: A Look Back At Eye-Catching Campaign Spots (VIDEO)

Posted: 10/03/11 09:24 AM ET

Campaign ads can have a lasting effect on the political sphere that at least in one case lasted for decades. Almost 50 years after the 1964 presidential election, memories of then-president Lyndon B. Johnson's "Daisy" ad live on -- and the spot only aired once.

The slideshow below highlights some of the most eye-catching political ads from recent years. From former Delaware GOP Senate candidate Christine O'Donnell's infamous "I'm not a witch" ad, to former California GOP Senate candidate Carly Fiorina's "Demon Sheep" spot, the ads may not have all had a desirable effect on voters, but they are certainly entertaining.

We're looking forward to a 2012 election season filled with many more.

The demon sheep ad reminds me of the scene in "Ghostbusters" where the monster emerges from the statue. Of course, it makes sense to use sheep, since only sheep would vote for Carly Fiorina.

The diaper ad should have been about David Vitter.

Speaking of Christine O'Donnell's ad, check out Elvira's spoof:
