Rocky Point, NY: Rising Costs Are Tough For Pizza Maker To Swallow

"A product like mozzarella has gone up $1.50 per pound in the last few years. That affects the cost of a slice. If we absorb the increase we lose, if we charge too much we lose, so we keep the price at $2.25; we just can't have the same profit margin," said Vincent Prestigiacomo, who owns Pompei Pizza in the Kohl's Shopping Center in Rocky Point, N.Y.
