Our Guide To The P&O Ventura

P&O Cruises' Ventura is a popular floating resort. The waters are crowded with sea-worthy vessels, so to make planning easier, we've done all the prep work for a cruise vacation. As part of a Huffington Post Travel series on cruise ships, here is a tip sheet offering all the key information one could ever need to know about the Ventura.

Destination

The
sails to such destinations as the Mediterranean, Norway, the Canary Islands, the Caribbean, Spain, France and Iceland. Voyages run from two to 29 nights all year.

Luxury Ship

The Ventura is one of the largest ships in the cruise line's fleet. This 950-foot vessel is family-friendly and full of entertainment venues. It carries up to 3,574 passengers.

Special Features

on the Ventura include four pools, six hot tubs, a sports court, two lounges, a bar, a casino, comedy and music clubs and a spa. This ship has a large theater and even offers Cirque Ventura, a
school led by the Generating Company. The school teaches passengers of all ages how to fly on the trapeze, improvisation, tight-wire walking, stilt walking, juggling and bungee trampoline bouncing on the top deck.

Accommodations

on the Ventura include inside, outside, balcony and superior deluxe balcony cabins. Suites, spacious and luxurious, are also available. Included with all cabins are daily steward service, telephone, radio, TV, refrigerator, hair dryer, tea/coffee makers, safe, air conditioning, vanity/writing desk and wardrobe. Mineral water and a luxurious "pamper pack," consisting of lip balm, face cream, room spray and shower gel dispenser, are included upon arrival.

Cost

Prices on the Ventura range from $373 to $12,392 per person. Prices vary depending on cabin, time of year and length of voyage.

Excursions

According to past passengers,
, Spain, is a charming village by the sea and makes for a wonderful excursion. This is an old town with shops and restaurants; it also features the statue of Our Lady of the Rock, which offers a climb inside to the observation deck.

Dining Experience

The Ventura features two restaurants and three main dining rooms offering a 24-hour family-style buffet, Asian and Pacific cuisine and a pizzeria. Enjoy a formal atmosphere in the dining room or eat out by the pool at the pizzeria. The signature restaurant is Marco Pierre White's

Maiden Voyage

The Ventura made its maiden voyage in April 2008.

In The News

In 2009, according to
, a U.K. newspaper, passengers were reported misbehaving on the New Year's cruise ship. There was fighting, swearing and an attempt to set fire to a Christmas tree and restaurant. Two minors were kicked off the ship for their behavior.
