Herman Cain 2012: 'Black Walnut' Isn't The 'Flavor Of The Week' (VIDEO)

The Huffington Post   First Posted: 10/04/11 11:45 AM ET Updated: 12/04/11 05:12 AM ET

Herman Cain says he's more than the "flavor of the week."

Commenting on "Fox and Friends" Tuesday morning on a new Washington Post/ABC News poll that shows his numbers rising, he said, "That is great news that says the 'flavor of the week' might have some substance."

"Black walnut isn't a flavor of the week," he continued. "I can eat black walnut all the time -- it's not a flavor of the week! It's not that heavy. You can eat it on the cone or in a cup," he joked. Herman Cain's new book, This Is Herman Cain!: My Journey To The White House, is also being released today.

Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin called Cain the "flavor of the week" last week, a comment she subsequently clarified.

Cain called himself "black walnut" on "The Tonight Show With Jay Leno" Friday. "I'm Häagen-Dazs Black Walnut," joked Cain. He went on to say that that flavor "lasts longer than a week."

Cain has also weighed in on New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie. "I think he has more liberal positions that a lot of people don't know about yet," he said on "The Sean Hannity Show" Monday night. "I've talked to some people in New Jersey who live there and they say he has a lot of liberal positions. I don't know all of them, but I think all of that would come out." Cain acknowledged that Christie would likely get a lot of media attention, but said on "Fox and Friends" that his own momentum would not be affected.

"At the same time, you'll see black walnut moving up the charts."

The above "pundit" comment is incorrect. Cain didn't "school" anyone. He crunced some numbers based on incorrect assumptions and then tried to argue that it was going to mean he was going to have to eliminate jobs. The problem is that we know from experience that this type of hypothetical argument isn't accurate. Corporations like the one Cain ran hire who they NEED. They don't have tons of extra people  Read More...

So now it isn't that a person is black, they must be purebred as well? I can almost guarantee that Herman Caen is not entirely black. Unless he can trace his ancestry back to whatever country his people come from and prove that no white or Hispanic or Asian people were involved in the reproductive activities of all the people since that origin, he cannot prove he is totally black.

And, who cares anyway? Clarence Thomas is black and has never done a thing for the cause of civil right in this country.

I was wavering between Herman Cain and Ron Paul, and based on his openness and the fact he isn't almost 80, I may have to throw my support behind Cain! I like what he has to say, he's smart, concise, honest, and tells it like it is.

He does not believe in global warming. This means that he thinks his opinion trumps scientific fact. He is not to be considered seriously. Anyone with half an intellect knows that global warming is going to be THE single one issue that is going to affect the entire globe - and rapidly... and he chooses to believe that somehow he's brighter and more informed than scientists who have spent a lifetime studying processes. That alone makes him unqualified. If someone is so arrogant that they actually believe that it's fine to dismiss the work of the global scientific community, then they are unqualified. If they've been co-opted by anti-regulation corporations whose interest is motivated by profit only and who benefit from polluting, then they are unqualified. If they are manipulating facts to appeal to their own low-information voters, then they are unqualified. If they are cooking information to suit their own agenda, then they are unqualified.

Now it's up to you as to whether you believe that Herman Cain is either too dumb to understand science or is willfully ignoring science for his own gain and the gain of his corporate friends. Either way, he's unqualified.

If you just choose to believe that you too are smarter and more informed than the global scientific community, then you have zero critical thinking skills.

What is mind boggling is that a GOP business man wants to quit creating jobs by running for an office that the GOP says has no power to create jobs.

don't fool yourself.... the reason for the wealth transfer to other provider nations was to increase the bottom line of the global corps. you, as a former american worker cannot compete with the low wages of the new middle class in the east.. even if there were 0 (zero) taxes for the global job providers.

The upside is for those who pay above 9% tax now. Those who are so poor they pay nothing will now have 18% less to live on. This also eliminates SS and medicare beccause it gets rid of the FICA tax. This only helps those who are already doing ok.

Funny, I've heard you wingnuts saying Carter Carter Carter he's worse than Carter; look how far you guys go back to discredit the President. At least in the case of Libs we're still feeling the effects of the Bush financial blood bath.

Ok people heres our new president , and the reason he keeps goin up in the polls is because he is Not a polictian, and for those that say he has no experiance running a country , well look at what we have now , Obama had No experiance either , only good at making speeches. Go Herman !!!!!!!!!!!
