Would You Let Your Baby Model?

By Chana R. Schoenberger on The Juggle

The dream: Junior supports his parents by hamming for the camera as a baby model.

Sounds almost too good to be true. Is it?

The Juggle spoke to one baby model’s mother to find out what it’s all about.

San Francisco mom Heather MacKenzie, an executive at online-shopping company Delivery Agent, was skeptical when friends told her that her baby girl would make a good model. Sure, her daughter was pretty cute, but MacKenzie “didn’t want to have too much of a stigma for putting my baby up for these modeling things.”

But she did some research online anyway, checking out local modeling agencies’ reviews and taking note of the caveats: parents should never have to pay fees or pay for headshots at an above-board agency.

Choosing one with good reviews, MacKenzie emailed some snapshots of her 6-month-old to an agent, and received a request back for an interview within minutes.
