Fullerton Police Department Battles Scandals On Multiple Fronts (VIDEO)

The Skinny On Fullerton PD's Multiple Scandals

The scandals keep piling up for the Fullerton Police Department.

On Tuesday morning, the department's acting police chief Kevin Hamilton apologized to a family because a narcotics unit had mistakenly raided their home. His apology was a reaction to a complaint filed by the home's resident Robyn Nordell, which states that the officers who mistakenly raided her home did not include mention of it in their investigation report, according to the Los Angeles Times.

Meanwhile, the Fullerton Police Department and the City Council are awaiting a judge's decision about a lawsuit, filed in 2009, alleging that police officer Albert Rincon arrested and sexually assaulted two women. While the total amount of both potential settlements is still unknown, reports the OC Register, they each sought $7.6 million in previous attempts to file claims against the city about this police officer.

Finally, Fullerton police chief Michael Sellers was supposed to return to work this week after going on paid medical leave in early August during the height of furor over Kelly Thomas' beating death. Instead, his leave has been extended for another two months, reports CBS Los Angeles. At $19,000 per month, the chief's paid medical leave has Fullerton residents seeing red.

Late last month, two police were charged for Thomas' beating death -- Manny Ramos with second-degree murder and Jay Cicinelli with involuntary manslaughter and excessive force, according to KTLA.
