Legendary Producer Phil Ramone: What Advertising Can Learn From Music Industry

What can the advertising industry learn from the music industry? How to nurture young talent, according to legendary music producer (and HuffPost blogger!) Phil Ramone.

Ramone spoke on an Advertising Week panel about talent retention, and caught up with AOL's David Shing following the panel to expand on his ideas.

"Young talent needs to be well taken-care-of," Ramone said. "We used to do that in the record business...this world right here probably could be nurturing talent really easily."

Ramone says that the key is "encouragement," and adds that ultimately whether the industry is music or advertising, the consumer will be the deciding factor.

"The loyalty is amongst the audience," he said.

In addition to having won over a dozen Grammy Awards, Ramone writes a weekly HuffPost blog series called DogEars with Danielle Evin highlighting "songs that have come along and records you might not have remembered."
