Queen Elizabeth II Would Disapprove Of A Kate Middleton Vogue Cover

Remember when every fashion blogger in existence got all in a tizzy over a potential Kate Middleton Vogue cover?

Turns out the Queen will make sure your cover dreams go unfulfilled.

E! reports that Queen Elizabeth II is quite against the idea of the Duchess of Cambridge posing for fashion spreads, with a palace source saying, "she would definitely not be amused, and Her Majesty is a real genius at making people squirm with simply a look or a 'tut, tut.'"

We suppose we already knew a royal Vogue cover wouldn't happen, but a disapproval from the Queen herself really seals the deal.

The source also told E!:

"But both William and Kate feel it would be wrong for Kate to promote herself as a fashion or style icon. That's not what they are about and they take their royal duties far too seriously to, in one sense, trivialize them."

Trivialize? We're slightly offended. After all, Kate Moss, the closest thing the fashion industry has to royalty, let Mario Testino, Middleton's rumored Vogue photog, snap her wedding the fashion bible's September issue.

Then again, we're guessing Moss doesn't come from such a strict family.

She is very protective of the image of the 'Firm' and usually quite right. If only she could get Charles to keep his mouth shut.

Just like some people expect Elizabeth Warren, a politician running for Senator, to be into fashions; politicians are not fashion models so they dress practical and sensible.

Kate of Cambridge is fashionable but she is not a fashion model for the fashion industry but she is a member of the Royalty to be a good role model for society. I am not British so you can correct me on this if you want to but I will not reply.

Kate doesn't need to be on Vogue. Vogue would probably go all out and put her in something ridiculously un-Middleton I can imagine (frizzed out hair, tons of airbrushing and tramp makeup). And even if they didn't, she's not a model or an actress or TV personality. She's a Duchess now and kind of sets an example for the Royal family.

I'm glad she sets a style example *without* the 'Vogue' label attached.

Did anyone ever think Grandma was going to allow this? It was never, ever going to happen.

So correct.

There's really no reason for Kate to do it. Course, the Queen may be jealous - but why upset the poor old woman? Let Camilla do it since she's so off on getting the exposure. May not be a winner for Vogue - but at least they'd have a "Royal" on the cover. "tough, tutties"!
07:20 PM on 10/07/2011
Morgan, "poor old woman"? Lol she could buy and sell most of us, and I doubt at her age she is jealous of anyone or anything. As far as Camilla goes, she and Charles should have been allowed to marry decades before they did. It would have saved both he and Diana lots of grief.

No, the Queen herself couldn't "buy or sell" much of anything without the consent of Commons and Lords. Her "wealth" is tied up in land and art and jewels - but to use it would need the consensus. Her stocks are not doing that well. Listed as a wealthy woman - she pales in comparison to other women who've had fortunes amassed long before she took reign. They can do something with it - Her Majesty cannot. So LOL to you kritteracres - let her try to weild her "wealth" - I would allow that she'd be hard pressed to do so. If the gold bars are guarded by iron bars - owner or not - there's not much to be done with them.

Jealous? Are you 14? I'm sure the Queen doesn't want Middleton to turn into another Diana - who never met a camera she didn't like.
02:35 PM on 10/07/2011
I think this is where "Pippa" comes in - to take the spotlight away from her sister. Pippa does not have the restrictions placed upon her as Kate does.

If she begins posing for magazine covers, it will only be a matter of time before the papparazzi will begin haunting her just the way they did poor Diana. She does not need any more attention than she is receiving right now. This woman is not a movie star. She should be able to live as normal a life as is possible with her husband. That alone is not going to be easy for her.

No offense to her, but haven't we seen enough pics of Kate EVERYWHERE? She doesn't need a cover.
07:22 PM on 10/07/2011
missyin, it's not Kate's fault her pics are seen everywhere. She can't stop photographers from taking them. I think she is a very classy young woman.

If Vogue or any other magazine wants to use the Duchess of Cambridge on the cover, there will be countless official photos that they will probably be able to license from the Palace. However, specifically doing a photo shoot for any particular magazine would be favoritism and a selling of the position of Duchess of Cambridge.

The grammar/article/spelling nazi is usually someone who has nothing to contribute. I can't stand them.

The queen is right. Kim Kardashian and Michelle Obama seem to be regulars on the cover of Vogue and the queen just hopes Kate won't lower her standards to join them.
12:28 PM on 10/07/2011
I don't know how Vogue can advertise themselves as a high fashion magazine when they put Michele Obama on the cover. MO is the least fashionable presidents wife ever. The tiny sweaters, tight pants that show her underwear lines, belts worn under her boobs, the list goes on and on. I guess if her style is that of Goodwill then she is dead on.

Too true, good people are good people whatever they wear
02:32 PM on 10/07/2011
True and we can only count the days until she and her husband are gone from the White House and we can possibly have a classy First Lady such as Laura Bush was.

Perhaps the Queen is jealous since the only cover she would ever have been offered would be Field and Stream
12:23 PM on 10/07/2011
Far more than that. She would get AARP, Family Circle, Good Housekeeping, Town and Country, Gun and Garden-- or in other words, every magazine with a demographic older than 60 or with incomes higher than $100K.

Yes, very clever of you. Anyone can see from all of the effort she's put into being a fashion icon herself that she would be motivated by jealousy, rather than by a concern for creating another Diana.

Nothing wrong with Diana except what the Queen and her family put her through
11:32 AM on 10/07/2011
I think the Queen is right on this one. Let models grace the covers of fashion magazines, not royalty.
11:21 AM on 10/07/2011
Well, if she tries to become a fashion icon then it becomes all about her and what she's wearing, not good deeds they are doing for others. I'm with the Queen on this. Maybe she should give the "president" and his wife some pointers. She needs fashion advice, moral advice, humility, and the list goes on. At least the Queen can see what this would become and how it could look to their people.
12:25 PM on 10/07/2011
Thank you!!! Regarding our "First Lady"!

And for those commenting on Kate, I could be wrong, but I believe she comes from a wealthy family as well.

And I think Kate is a lot like Princess Diana, only more so - lovely, poised, confident, friendly, the list could go on. What is wrong with people? Is it just people are too mean these days??? hmmmm

What is wrong with a little respect for Her Majesty's decisions and respect for her family? So many times the commentary is far too personal. Let them be covered as news, not as curiosities.
This is our chance to let them have thier dignity remain intact.
