Floating Opera Dazzles Austrian Audience (VIDEO)

WATCH: Floating Opera

Powdered wig-wearing patriots bounce on an inflatable mountaintop. Mermaids twirl while suspended in thin air. A battle breaks out on top of a giant, 3D statue of Jean-Paul Marat. This is no ordinary opera.

For an upcoming performance of 'André Chénier', a French revolution era tale, director Keith Warner and set designer David Fielding have chosen a particularly unconventional set. The entire performance will take place on a reproduction of the face from Jacques-Louis David's 'The Death of Marat.' And if that weren't enough, the face will be floating 78 feet above Lake Constance. The performance on the water will make use of its unusual location, having performers dive into the water. 'André Chénier' takes drama to new heights, before the actual performance has even begun.
