Michele Bachmann: 'I Would Reinstate The Don't Ask, Don't Tell Policy'

Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) reiterated that she would reinstate the "don't ask, don't tell" policy if she were elected president on a conference call with Ralph Reed's Faith and Freedom Coalition, reports the Minnesota Independent.

Bachmann took calls from supporters, including one who said that allowing gays and lesbians to serve openly would "destroy the armed forces," before being cut off.

"I think of all the candidates that are running in the race, I have been very vocal about this," said Bachmann according to the Independent. "I would reinstate the don't ask, don't tell policy. It worked before and what it says is the issue of sexuality is one that doesn't come up and people aren't allowed to be open about it because the United States military, it's not a social experiment."

Bachmann has said multiple times that she would reinstate the policy that bans gays and lesbians from serving openly in the military.

Bachmann praised the constitutional amendment to ban gay marriage in Minnesota that will go to voters in 2012: "We also believe that God has a design for marriage between one man and one woman. I was the chief author of the marriage amendment in Minnesota and we persisted, and after seven years, in a very hostile liberal state, we finally passed that marriage amendment and it will be on the ballot and I believe it will pass in 2012." (Minnesota already bans gay marriage by statute, but opponents wanted to add a constitutional amendment to keep a court from ruling in favor of it.)

"Don't settle. Don't settle for anyone less than a candidate that will stand up for pro-life, pro-family, pro-marriage issues," she said. Bachmann is running in single digits in recent polls after winning the Iowa Straw Poll in August. That victory coincided with the entrance of Texas Gov. Rick Perry into the race, and she's been sliding downhill ever since. She is reportedly running out of money to fund her campaign.

"I have a titanium spine. I will put my spine up against any man who is running in this race," she said.

Nothing new on HP about MP today. Whoopie. I did want to get in this oldie but goody. Michele Bachmann is against CFL bulbs because her Easy Bake oven requires an incandescent bulb to bake her cookies.

Michelle Bachmann may be uniquely qualified to judge the effectiveness of Don't Ask, Don't Tell, since that's probably the agreement she has with her husband. And that may explain why she's willing to put her spine against the spine of any man running in this race.

So she says....."I have a titanium spine. I will put my spine up against any man who is running in this race," she said.

Well, first of all that just sounds nasty.
It's not hard to kinda stand out in that crowd when the bar has been set so low.

She may have a 'titanium spine' but she has gummy bears for brains.

Hey Michele,

Two points of order here.

1. You cannot reinstate DADT, even if you were somehow able to become President (I'm stifling severe nausea right now). Moreover, a federal court has found DADT to be unconstitutional. Haven't you been keeping up with your reading?

2. You Republicans claim you will "do the will of he people" -- well, an Opinion Research Poll last year found that 78% of Americans said gays should be allowed to serve openly in the military. Does the word "hypocrite" mean anything to you? Perhaps "liar" does?

when she said the will of the people, she only meant the evangelical, fanatical right wing christian people.

Oh, yeah, I forgot to check the fine print footnote.

Well, then, the Republican party remains firmly affixed to the 19th century.

You can't put toothpaste back in the tube and she knows it. She is just playing to the rubes. I suspect that the voice inside her head is another one of her personalities. "This is Sarah. Can you hear me now?"

Maybe she should just take her gay bashing back home to her closet case husband. Do I hear an Amen!

why insult jellyfish? they don't have brains at all, just slight nerve clusters, and yet they still navigate a little better than Bachmann. in theory, she at least has a fully developed nervous system that apparently keeps her from accessing her reality.

Michele Bachmann would reinstate DADT.
Michele Bachmann says she has a titanium spine.

Michele Bachman along with her cohorts stood silent as the Tea Party crowd in attendance at the debate, booed and denigrated an American soldier, asking a question, not from his living room, but from a tent in Iraq where he is honorably serving his Nation. Bachmann not only does not have a titanium spine, she apparently has no spine at all.

She will never get the opportunity to reinstate DADT, because she as an Anti American, Anti Troops Tea Partier will never sit at the desk in the Oval Office.

The exact same thing applies to all the spineless creatures who did not have the courage to suggest to their supporters, that booing an American Trooper, who is presently serving in Iraq, is quite inappropriate......as we have said all along, wearing flag lapel pins, is useless and empty and hollow, when in actuality you do not support the American Forces serving throughout the world.
