Portishead Play 'Fallon': First TV Performance In 13 Years

Portishead Back On TV After 13 Years

Suddenly-not-elusive British band, Portishead, played their first American TV performance since 1998 last night on "Late Night With Jimmy Fallon": a rendition of their most recent single, "Chase The Tear."

They also performed their more famous hit, "Mysterons," which was made available as a web exclusive.

The group has been known for appearing in fits and starts, with long hiatuses in between, though recently they've been back in the limelight (or, rather, an ethereal dark, blue-ish light) with a series of performances and announcements. This past summer the band curated the All Tomorrow's Parties festivals in London, and also announced a mini-tour that will kick off in Toronto on October 9.

The "Chase The Tear" single was recorded as a benefit for Amnesty International in 2009, and Pitchfork reports that a few hundred signed copies will be available at the Independent Label Market in Brooklyn this Saturday.
