Co-founder and former CEO of Apple, Steve Jobs, has passed away at age 56 in California, and leaders around the world have expressed their condolences and gratitude for Jobs over Twitter, Facebook, and to the media.

Jobs resigned as CEO of Apple six weeks ago. He had been battling cancer since 2004, according to the Associated Press.
