Amusement parks in Puerto Rico offer exciting rides for thrill-seekers and fun rides for families and young children. As part of a Huffington Post Travel series on family-fun parks, here is our guide to all the key information visitors need to know about Puerto Rican amusement parks.
Coqui Water Park
Part of the El Conquistador Resort, the Coqui Water Park is impeccably designed, matching the luxury of the
branded resort. There are exciting rides and opportunities to catch some rays, plus Coqui has the advantage of actually being next to the sea and having some of the nicest facilities and amenities you'll ever come across.
Signature Ride
The signature element of Coqui isn't a ride exactly -- it's the main pool, which isn't just big but also has
, making for a spectacular view while floating along in your tube. Kids will head right for the slides, but you may not notice once you see the pool.
More Than Just A Water Park
Besides being a great water park attached to a world-class resort, Coqui Water Park offers some fun hours just walking around, plus
and other touches of the Caribbean. The south end of the resort runs up against the Caribbean Sea, so if you just want to watch the ocean for a while without getting sand in your sandals -- go for it.
Food Options
The Oasis Bar and Grill serves the Coqui Water Park and offers a full menu of easy-going Caribbean and American items.
Safety Record
Our research revealed no notable news reports of accidents or safety issues at Coqui Water Park.
Address: 1000 El Conquistador Ave., Fajardo, PR 00738Phone: 787-863-1000Hours: Hours for the water park vary seasonally. Contact the resort for more information.Price: If you're staying at the El Conquistador Resort, the water park is included in the room rate. Non-guests can enjoy the facility for $20 (adults) or $15 (children).
Las Cascadas Water Park
In an area known for water, Las Cascadas is often referred to as the largest water park in the Caribbean, and it has a wide range of attractions expected at a world-class water park. Ten water rides including fast and long slides, a lazy river, plenty of pools and splash areas make for a water park that will leave any child exhausted at the end of a day.
Signature Ride
is a water ride largely unique to Las Cascadas, combining speed and unexpected mystery. Most water parks have slides with extra turns intended to surprise riders the first time they give it a try, but The Maze is genuinely confusing, turning quickly and often. You won't know where you're going and suddenly you're all wet. Even the next time you ride The Maze, you may still end up confused!
Water Rides
The park doesn't offer much that isn't water related, so expect to get wet -- whether going fast on the slides or slow on the lazy river -- or simply enjoy the resort and its tropical Caribbean surroundings.
Food Options
There is largely fast food at Las Cascadas, with bit of local flair on the menu. There are a number of places to eat in the park, most of them near the water.
Safety Record
Our research revealed no notable news reports of accidents or safety issues at Las Cascadas.
