Dakota Fanning Heads To The Gym With Giant Chanel Bag (PHOTOS)

Dakota Fanning, a newly-minted NYU freshman, has been adjusting to college life as well as any celebrity can.

She goes to class, hits the local gym and buys groceries... while refusing to wear sweatpants, sitting front row at fashion shows and donning the kind of oversized sunglasses required for such celebrity outings.

Seen in pics taken by Bauer-Griffin, Dakota struck the same balance when she stepped out to the gym yesterday in downtown New York.

The 17-year-old star wore her sneakers, black workout pants and a tough leather jacket. She toted, of course, a giant black Chanel bag.

We're a bit surprised the bag was not by Marc Jacobs, Fanning's patron fashion brand. But we're not at all surprised that she was doing the classic water-and-cell phone carry, a la Ashley Olsen. What good are luxury bags if you actually put things in them?

evhandbag-This is no bigger than the average bags women carry. In fact, the Dooney bag that I use practicall­y everyday is bigger than that one. I don't see what the big deal is- is it because its Chanel?

Seriously, shes awesome..Just leave her be. Who cares? Shes a normal, everyday person who just happpens to live in NY. I dont think stalking her while she drinks water and texts is very news worthy.

Dakota's no Olsen--and doesn't want to be. She's her own person and a penetrating actress.

There's nothing to snarl at here. So what if she's carrying a Chanel bag/purse, whatever, water bottle, smart phone, etc. It's not like it's a $40,000 backpack she's taking to the gym...

Exercise profits little...

If you believe in God as creator of all things, then isn't it logical to conclude God would want you to take care of and maintain the health of the body he blessed you with? Exercise prevents bone loss well into old age, and has m e n t a l health benefits as well. Exercise is essential, God or Godless crowd.

I hate smart phones. I mean, I have one, but people are entirely TOO obsessed with them. You can go out to a restaurant and a table of five can have literally every one of them not speaking to each other but browsing their smart phones.

Actually, that's her purse. And what is the issue with it? She's successful and making her way through the world, along with college. Good for her for having a good head on her shoulders and a classy bag to go along.
