Mazen Istanbouli knows his way around many of Chicago's top cultural spots but is planning to visit a club he's never been to before. No big deal for most people, except the political science teacher is legally blind -- so navigating an unknown venue is more daunting for him.

When he goes to a new place, "I question if anyone around will help me in the lobby, show me to my seat, show me around," he says. "It makes me reluctant."
