Taylor Garrett, Logo 'A-List Dallas' Reality Star, Claims To Receive Threats After Lunch With Ann Coulter (UPDATE)

Coulter Alist

UPDATE (7:32pm ET): Taylor Garrett has deleted the claim on his Twitter feed that is described in the story below.
___

Original story:

Taylor Garrett, one of the five "stars" of the upcoming Logo reality show "The A-List: Dallas," claims that gay activists launched a rock through his window after learning he'd dined with Ann Coulter and GOProud Executive Director Jimmy LaSalvia.

"He's not even 30, but this powerhouse Christian Gay Republican has already made a near-legendary name for himself in Texas," reads Garrett's Logo bio. It also notes that he has worked for Republican politicians including Michele Bachmaan, Newt Gingrich and Rick Perry.

In an upcoming episode of the series, which premieres on October 10 and follows a handful of gay men as they "dish up a Texas-sized serving of larger-than-life personalities and their high-living lifestyles," Garrett reportedly shares a meal with Coulter and LaSalvia.

After the lunch LaSalvia posted the following message on the GOProud website:

"We at GOProud are thrilled at this opportunity. We look forward to gay people everywhere getting a chance to hear about our organizations and hear from Ann Coulter – simply the smartest, funniest and most stylish woman in politics today. We thank Ann for agreeing to do this and for continuing her outspoken support for gay conservatives."

But it looks like not everyone is quite so thrilled.

Yesterday, Garrett tweeted two photos, one of his broken window and the other of a rock with a threatening message attached to it. The message reads:

"Who the fuck do you think you are? You are not A-List. More like Z-List. You are nothing but a nelly twink trying to get attention by calling yourself a republican. You are nothing but an embarrassment to the gay community. Watch your fucking back you pathetic mother fucking twink."

A petition which aims to prevent Coulter, who frequently shares her anti-gay opinions -- including a recent comment that DADT should be reinstated -- from appearing on the show is currently circulating on the Internet.

A statement regarding the petition reads:

Despite being one of the most outspoken opponents of LGBT civil equality, Logo TV will be featuring Ann Coulter on an upcoming episode of their reality show "The A-List: Dallas." Furthermore, their website has the audacity to refer to her as "somewhat supportive" of the gay community, and compare her stand on issues as equivalent to President Obama's despite his record as signing more pro-LGBT legislation and writing more pro-LGBT executive orders than any President in US history. The innacurate characterization of Ms. Coulter should be removed from their website, and they should not air any material that gives a platform to Ann Coulter and her bigoted views.

Back2Stonewall.org, which is calling for a boycott of Logo, reports that the gay cable network's response to the controversy was "Looks like we lost the grumpy demographic."

Correction: A previous version of this article stated Coulter wanted to "repeal" DADT, however, she in fact wants to see it reinstated.

"simply the smartest, funniest and most stylish woman in politics today"

Shows his total lack of judgement in all these areas.

Forgive me for being judgmental, but she is absolutely hideous!

Hey, anyone remember when Morton Downey, Jr. claimed to have been the victim of a hate crime? What, you don't remember Morton Downey, Jr. at all? How about Ashley Todd? Can't remember her either? Exactly. In other news, reality show desperate for publicity fakes up some.

So the Republicans bought off a few gay people to call themselves "GOProud" and try and glean a few votes from the gay community. Nobody with any brains is falling for this old turnip!. All this shows is the desperation this party feels and the lengths they'll go to, to try and scam some extra votes for their bigoted candidates. Anybody who thinks the Republican party is a friend of the LGBT community only needs to look at their voting records and listen to their hate filled rhetoric among themselves at any political gathering.

Considering the fact that Ann resisted her natural urge to kill him, what with him being gay and all, I would say this shows incredible restraint on her part all things considered.

Hey, when did it become ok to threaten people for who they have lunch with? Yes, AC is a hater, but you don't have to prove her points by tossing rocks at people who associate with her. So much for tolerance.

He tossed the rock through his own window, it seems. Nothing is below the GOProud clan, including faking hate crimes for sympathy.

Read the update, bud. He faked it. It was staged. He lied about it.

You want to revise your statement?
03:41 AM on 10/10/2011
Um... I read this twice and I can't find anything that states he lied about it or it was staged. He took down the pictures and claim, but nothing on how it was staged. Am i missing something or was the info deleted?

Let's see: He had lunch with Ann Coulter; then he had a rock thrown through his window. Sounds like things are on the upswing for Mr. Garrett; anything's got to be better than lunch with Ann Coulter.

Has Logo lost its marbles? What are they thinking of, featuring Ann Coulter on their show? You can bet I'll never watch a single minute of it. Who's with me?

"HuffPost Gay Voices never intended to endorse Garrett's claim,"

and yet by your shody journalism, that's exactly what you ended up doing. It would be great to find true journalists again.

That would require actual newspapers. Sadly, both are on the decline. Welcome to the future!
