Tigers Vs. Rangers LIVE UPDATES: Verlander, Wilson Start Game 1 ALCS
With the Detroit Tigers having dispatched the New York Yankees in a thrilling winner-take-all game in the Bronx, the scene shifts to Texas. The entire Rangers' squad is rested and ready, having wrapped up their ALDS against the Tampa Bay Rays in four games. Although the Tigers' lineup may be filled with batters still weary from the decisive game at Yankee Stadium, the man they send to the hill should be feeling fine. Justin Verlander was held back from the win-or-go-home matchup in New York by skipper Jim Leyland, a move that was questioned by many at the time as his pinstriped counterpart had his own ace, CC Sabathia, available. All of a sudden Leyland's move -- and his confidence that he'd have another game to manage this year -- seems brilliant. Verlander is on schedule and ready to go to open the ALCS. He'll be opposed by C.J. Wilson. First pitch is scheduled for 8:05 p.m. EST.

@ jonmorosi : Bullpens were great. Feliz looked unhittable. #Tigers should be pleased with Porcello and Perry. #Rangers
@ dmansworldpd : Feliz makes Verlander look like a soft-tosser. #postseason
Feliz strikes out Rayburn to end it. That's three strikes outs in the ninth. After twice being delayed by rain, the Rangers have 1-games-to-none lead. Phenomenal performance from the Rangers' bullpen under strange circumstances. Well worked by Washington, even his questioned moves paid off.
Feliz throws two cutters, one fouled and one a ball. Count is 2-2. Miggy still on deck.
Crowd loud, Feliz looking to end game.
And count is even, 1-1. Rayburn chased a wide on and Napoli had to get out of crouch just to keep it from getting away.
Feliz blowing by these hitters. Ryan Rayburn up. Cabrera on deck. Ball one and you know he'd be happy to walk.
@ SI_JonHeyman : feliz hits 99 mph on gun to whiff betemit, who didnt have a chance on the first two 97s. lotta hard throwers in this series
Perhaps as punishment for Santiago, Feliz rocks him with high-90s heaters. Strikes out swinging. One down and one on for Austin Jackson.
Ramon Santaigo with a bunt single and the tying run is aboard for Neftali Feliz. Here we go.
And Perry just steamrolled the heart of the Rangers' order. They made that too easy for him. Or he's just much than I expected.
Whiffs on the first pitch and then grounds out on the second one. These Rangers batters seem to be in a hurry to get the ball to Feliz in the bottom of the inning. Worried about more? Tired after delay?
He leads off the home eighth with Perry still on the hill. Swinging at first pitch. Fouls it off. And then he flies out to left. 0-4 for Hamilton so far tonight.
Peralta swings through one and Wash has matched his way through the top of the eighth.
Peralta fouling off pitches up the first base line to stay alive.
Now, it's a funky delivery from the right to bookend Gonzalez from earlier. Adams quickly ahead of Peralta 0-2. Peralta steps out of the box to collect himself.
And Oliver gets his two lefties for Ron Washington, who is coming out to get him. Coming in now is Russ Adams.
Seeing these looping breakers from Oliver must look like they're crawling up the hill after Tigers had to deal with Ogando.
Hamilton gets a late jump on the ball off Kelly's bat but it hangs up for him to come in and get it. Up comes another lefty and Oliver staying on.
@ espn_macmahon : You got Mike Adams to lock down the 8th. Let him do it. Getting too cute with Darren Oliver starting the inning.
He charges a ball chopped up third base line, snags it fair. He then throws across to beat Andrus. to first.
Perry falls behind Kinsler but he then gets himself a fly ball to left. Here comes Andrus.
Right-handed reliever in and facing right-handed Kinsler. Called strike to start.
@ eboland11 : Ogando 3-0 with a 1.29 ERA in 3 starts this season vs. detroit. has blown away tigers first two innings. First guessing here: leave him in
@ AnthonyMcCarron : Coke faces only the two lefties, giving up a hit to Moreland, and gives way to Ryan Perry
@ jdubs88 : If it seemed like 2 hours since Texas last got a hit, that's because it was...
He slaps one back up the middle. Jackson charges and fields it on a hop, very nearly overrunning it.
