Bravo's 'Project Soulmate' Aims To Give 'Millionaire Matchmaker' A Run For Its Money

Is A Matchmaker War Brewing On Bravo?

Bravo has a matchmaker coming to the reality block next season, and she is promising to give "The Millionaire Matchmaker" Patti Stanger a run for her money.

New York City matchmaker Lori Zaslow and her business partner and husband, Bryan Zaslow, are the focus of Bravo's upcoming “Project Soulmate,” which is expected to premiere in January.

Stanger’s "Millionaire Matchmaker" has taken a hit in the ratings, and she's still doing damage control after her recent controversial remarks about gay and Jewish men, giving "Project Soulmate" an advantage in what's shaping up to be a matchmaking war on Bravo.

"When I watch Patti, I feel like I am watching a woman who can't control her mouth and also a woman who puts people together who are completely wrong for each other. I have never actually seen anyone get together again on the show," Bryan told The Huffington Post. "She gets three girls to stand there and makes sure they dress slutty. No wonder no one gets married. Yeah, she’s f***ing funny, but you need more than that."

Bryan adds that what makes his wife's matchmaking different from Stanger's is that she believes in digging deep to connect with her clients, all while using own 11-year marriage as the basis for that work.

It should be noted that Lori's clients are 95 percent men, and according to Bryan, she spends an inordinate amount of time getting to know them and their dating habits.

"Sometimes it is a little too personal," Bryan admitted. "Sometimes they show up at our house."

Lori says viewers will see relationship success on "Project Soulmate" -- something that is often lacking on "The Millionaire Matchmaker" -- because she doesn't turn dating into a casting couch of sorts.

"[Stanger] gives people a casting call and then they pick the wrong people," Lori said. “She isn't analyzing. She isn't learning. We have zero similarities."
