Best College Football Pictures From Week 6: LaMichael James Injured, Oklahoma Routes Texas (PHOTOS)

Best College Football Pictures From Week 6

Generally, a college football weekend is defined by the upsets or highlight reel plays that take place on Saturday afternoon, but the most impactful moment of the sixth week of the season may have come in the form of an injury on Thursday night.

Oregon running back LaMichael James, who is second in the nation in total rushing yards, averaging an unbelievable 9 yards per carry, suffered a gruesome injury during the Ducks' win over Cal on Thursday evening.

After opening their campaign with a loss to LSU -- currently ranked No. 1 in the nation -- the Ducks have romped through their schedule the past few weeks, relying on the same speedy combo of James and quarterback Darron Thomas that took them to the brink of a BCS title last season. If you want a handle on how impressive James is, he was still named the Pac 12 offensive player of the week despite playing just three quarters before his injury.

There has been no update on when James will return to action. If he stays out for an extended period of time then the Stanford Cardinal, currently undefeated and ranked seventh in the AP poll, have to like their odds of securing their first Pac 12 championship in football since 1999.

In a week where the status quo reigned supreme (no teams shifted in the AP top 10), it may be James' arm that shakes up the college football landscape more than any result that occurred.
