Betty White Talks LGBT Love

We all know that Betty White has long been a favorite of the LGBT community -- and all other communities, for that matter -- but now Frontiers LA magazine breaks it down for us. Well actually, Betty does herself with the following response as to why the gays all flock to her side:

"I've always portrayed characters that were humorous, but also weren't afraid of speaking their minds, especially when it came to racy or controversial topics... I think this struck a chord with the LGBT community. We both also share a very strong love for animals. When you combine the two, it's a very strong match."

The 89-year-old has worked with both the LA Zoo, where she is a member of its board of directors, and the Lifeline Program, an organization that helps terminally ill patients cash out on their insurance, and for whom she was the spokesperson.

The "Golden Girls" and "Mary Tyler Moore Show" actress has enjoyed a recent career resurgence in Hollywood with her comedic performances as the kooky, overly sexual grandmother in "The Proposal" and -- after a Facebook campaign reached 500,000 members -- as the host of Saturday Night Live.
