Dancing With The Stars Chynna Phillips Eliminated

LOS ANGELES -- Chynna Phillips forgot her routine on Monday's "Dancing With the Stars," and on Tuesday she was dismissed from the show.

"I'm disappointed," she said after learning she'd be leaving. "I'm sad, but I have to take responsibility. I messed up."

Phillips lost her place in the middle of her tango with professional partner Tony Dovolani and wasn't able to recover.

"I blanked," she said. "I knew that routine. I just blanked."

Judges gave the pair 21 points out of 30. Judges' scores are combined with viewer votes to determine which contestant is eliminated each week.

"I'm very grateful to have been on the show and had the opportunity," Phillips said Tuesday. "Thank you everyone who voted for me."

Her husband, Billy Baldwin, who has cheered her on from the ballroom each week, said that his wife "stumbled out of the gate (on Monday) and had her first bad week in four weeks."

Phillips was among Monday's lowest scorers. Carson Kressley, who was in last place with 20 points, and Chaz Bono, who tied with Phillips, were saved by viewer votes to dance another week.

Also returning next week to dance to 1980s hits will be Ricki Lake, J.R. Martinez, David Arquette, Nancy Grace, Rob Kardashian and Hope Solo.

Phillips is the fourth contestant eliminated so far on this season of the hit ABC show. Metta World Peace (formerly known as Ron Artest), Elisabetta Canalis and Kristin Cavallari were ousted on previous episodes.

Tuesday's results show also featured performances by Raphael Saadiq and Susan Boyle, and the return of two-time "Dancing" champ Julianne Hough. The professional dancer-turned-actress showed off some of the moves she'll be rocking when the remake of "Footloose" opens in theaters Friday. Hough and co-star Kenny Wormald danced to "I Need a Hero" before Blake Shelton offered his take on the movie's title song.

I think those who criticize any of the dancers should "dance a mile in their shoes." Chyna may have erred, but overall she was stunningly good! She dances as well as she sings.

But being voted off a show like this happens. You accept it and move forward. Some site made a big deal out of how Chyna supposedly accused the show of being a "popularity contest." She is right. Most of what happens in the entertainment industry is based on a popularity contest. But in this case, my response to her is, "So What?? You are still a classic beauty, you dance well and you are blessed as a singer. You haven't lost a THING, Chyna. You are (and will always be) a winner just as long as you keep on. Don't look back, unless its with pride and joy at what you've done. Look FORWARD to what can and WILL be in your future.

I've been pleasantly surprised to see Rob K & David A. steadily improve each week but I do think Nancy Grace is way out of her league in a dancing 'competition.' And as likable as Chaz might be, his attempts at dancing are not even watchable.

By all rights, he should gracefully withdraw from the show & not allow other worthy competitors be voted off the show because of the votes he manages to get... either from pity or from viewers who believe they are furthering an agenda.

It's a sad day when Chynna & Tony are given the boot because of one poor dance when some contestants have done nothing BUT dance very poorly every single week. (I'm looking at YOU Chaz & also Nancy to a lesser extent.)

Tony showed immense grace when he rushed to calm Chynna during their last dance. He calmed her during AND after they walked off that dance floor & stood in front of the judges. These two dancers epitomized what this show is supposed to be about.

Bono and Grace have a hard time standing erect without falling over let alone trying to dance. The show should be cancelled, its a waste of precious airtime.

Chynna Phillips was poorly served by the DWTS producers, and also by bandleader Harold Wheeler. First, using the theme to "Mission Impossible," the original of which is in 5/4 time, would itself have been an unfairly difficult time signature for any dancer, and to my knowledge, the only time a DWTS dancer has had to deal with a so-called "odd meter" song. What made matters worse is that Wheeler and the band played a "revised" arrangement of the tune, shifting the entire tune into 6/4 time. I wonder if Chynna and Tony were rehearsing to the original, in 5/4, and then having to perform it in 6/4 time. Any dancer will attest to this being a "mission impossible," right from the start. These dancers are owed an apology, and perhaps another chance.

Thanks for the post. I have seen this show do this to dancers time after time. One couple is given the perfect musical score for their fox trot dance, while another is supposed to dance a Cha Cha to some hip hop or hard rock song. The music just doesn't match the dance and then the judges tear them down because there wasn't enough ballroom dance steps in the routine. Chynna didn't just suddenly get stage fright. It's too bad that she left because she was most certainly one of the best dancers and I was looking forward to her and Tony staying in the competition till the end. Some of the other stars are "entertaining" but they don't have better personalities and they sure aren't better dancers.

"Stars" we barely remember, popular voting not based upon the quality of the performance....this show is boring, droll and done.

Too bad about Chynna's blanking on her dance. Shocking? Too strong a word.

DWTS is one of the few shows I make a point of watching every week. I enjoy watching non-professional dancers trying to learn the routines. The voting is disjointed but keeps things suspenseful. It's part competition and part personality/ popularity. That's okay with me.

This is all the fault of the producers of DWTS for inviting Chaz on in the first place. There is no one in this world convuleted enough that a whole lot of people would not rush to their phones to vote for them. If H.i.t.l.e.r. were still alive, he would get a lot of votes on this show.

Shocking?????? I would not consider some d lister getting eliminated from a fan voting a shocker. I'm sure their are still viewers who DWTS still wondering who and why was she famous. Now if someone had a heart attack while dancing...i would consider that shocking.

Does this mean that Chaz and Nancy are still on? Seriously?

What's shocking about someone who lost forgot their routine being eliminated? And how in the world did she manage to get 21 pts after doing so?

Lighten up, this is entertainment that all ages can watch together, except for a comment now and then from Bruno. That cannot be said for most other shows.
Next the scoring is not really weighted 50/50, because the judges have to give some points to everyone while the audience does not. Thus, the audience votes carry more weight on a % basis.
And these people are in the news, cannot say they are celebrates and certainly cannot say stars for most of them. And so what, again it is entertainment, fluff, distraction from the problems and stress we face every day. That is what entertainment is, a distraction, like a ball game, unless you are placing lots of money on the game, they are meaningless. Unless you live in NO and had nothing to live for, then maybe for a little while a Championship gives you hope and something to feel good about. Still it is a diversion from life's stress, lighten up.

I disagree with you....this show reinforces the attitude that you do not have to be good at anything and you can still win or be popular because the lowest common denominator decides who will stay according to their whims. I watch the show to see dancing and a good-humored and real competition in that arena. The show should be renamed "voting for the stars" and just by-pass the dancing...and not pretend it is about dancing. The way the show is now just makes no sense and seems to reinforce life's unfairness. Not much of a stress relief there.

Well if you really want a dance competition show then they have to totally change the music they use for dances.Having competed for a while, in smooth, International Tango, Waltz, Foxtrot, Quickstep and Viennese Waltz, I can tell you that most of the music does not match the dances performed. Take this week, Paso Doble by Chaz, the change in rhythms, not a Paso Doble. They mix Argentine Tango with American and International. I do not want to even go into the Latin dances which rarely ever match the music. What then gets me is the judges say, they are off the music, really hard to be on the music when the music does not match the steps.
The different dances were created so people would have steps that actually match the music.
Most of the showy stuff that Bruno and Carrie Ann like would not fly in a dance competition except in the 'Show" category where pretty much anything goes.
Sorry it really is an entertainment show disguised as a dance competition and like ice skating comps, it is still subjective and not always fair.
Talk about fair, JR keeps getting shafted each week. So let's not talk fair.

Chynna's worst routine was better than Chaz's BEST routine.

If Chaz is still in by the finals, my wife and I are never watching again - and we are devoted DWTS fans.

If Chaz is still in the finals??? Why are you still watching this show? Especially after B Palin was sent to the finals and she can't dance, AT ALL!

The show is rigged!!!!

We watch the show because "Ballroom Dancing" has been dropped by our local PBS affiliate, and we like it. After years of watching the real competitions, the popular version still sometimes surprises us. Good dancing is good dancing.

I like the week where the judges votes are the only votes that count. Rather than once per season, it should be every other week.

Why are the eliminations such a "SHOCKER". Newsflash, not everyone is going to win. The DWTS cast know there's only 1 standing in the end just like the superbowl or NBA finals. Shocking? smh
