D.C. Terror Plot: Iran Rejects U.S. Accusations

Terror Plot

10/11/11 05:10 PM ET   AP

TEHRAN, Iran -- Iran on Tuesday rejected U.S. claims that Iran was involved in a plot to assassinate the Saudi Arabian ambassador to Washington.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast called the claims a "prefabricated scenario" and a "ridiculous show."

"These old-fashioned behaviors are based on the long-standing hostile American-Zionist policies and are ridiculous show in line with scenarios to provoke division," the semiofficial Fars news agency quoted Mehmanparast as saying Tuesday.

The spokesman was reacting to charges by the U.S. Justice Department accusing agents of the Iranian government of involvement in a plot to assassinate the Saudi ambassador to the United States, with help from a suspected member of a Mexican drug cartel.

"Designers of such prefabricated scenarios seek to create divisions and help the Zionist regime get of isolation," Mehmanparast was quoted as saying.

Earlier, IRNA, the official Iranian news agency, called the accusations by the U.S. Justice Department as "America's new propaganda scenario" against Iran, without elaborating.

U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder said Tuesday the U.S. would hold Iran accountable. Two people, one of them a member of Iran's special operations unit known as the Quds Force, were charged in New York federal court.

Manssor Arbabsiar, a 56-year-old U.S. citizen who also holds an Iranian passport, was charged along with Gholam Shakuri, whom U.S. authorities said was a Quds Force member.

Iran is getting really predictable in blaming the "American-Zionists." They should be more creative; maybe by blaming it on Ernst Blofeld.

The Saudis fear their own "arab spring", what better way to unite their people while receiving USA backing for their dictatorship.

A latin narco-trafficking network run by Hezbollah and Iranian-backed "Al Quds" forces assaulting the southern border region of the US? What a perfectly synergistic pretense to both invade Iran AND position US armed forces along the US-Mexican border.

US government doesn't even have to be subtle about it anymore. By pulling in the Hezbollah angle, anyone who opposes US government aggression can be attacked as anti Semitic.

exactly . . I think and feel free to disagree with me . . but the us, the saudis and bibi have come to some agreement about Palestine . . this is part of a face saving device of some sort to cover machinations . . I don't think the Supreme Leader would get involved in something this stupid . . . we need lots more information . . .

Iran...we do not care what you think about our accusation. If you persist, we're going to accuse of a lot more...maybe a few aluminum tubes, some yellow cake, switches, or maybe some WMDs...keep it up!

Let me try to predict whats gonna happen 5 months from now:

Iran is going to continue denouncing any involvement in a potential attack, the US will keep pressuring Iran. 2 months later The US is going to call Iran a threat to US security, Israel will bomb an Iranian nuke plant, Iran will then give weapons to Hezbollah. The US will see an attack on Israel's sovereignty as an attack on America's sovereignty and will then invade Iran, just like they Invaded Iraq. Which will probably lead to the deaths of 1 million Iranians.

Mexican drug cartel is missing in your prediction, please finish it. What will happen to Mexico?

If they had stopped them from flying the planes into the World Trade center, many would of thought it a hoax as well. Go figure

If they had stopped them, many of the things that the govt. finds so easy to do now (Illegal wars, private mercenary armies, occupation of resource rich foreign lands, stripping of rights, profiling, wire tapping, assassinations), would not be possible.... go figure.

"...with help from a suspected member of a Mexican drug cartel."

Wait a minute. Another article pointed out that the "member" was an undercover DEA informant:

"...Arbabsiar met earlier this year with a confidential DEA informant posing as the member of a "violent international drug trafficking cartel,"..."

This whole thing smells like one of those "FBI again thwarts its own terror plot" scenarios:
