Victoria Jackson Goes To Occupy Wall Street, Inflames Protesters (VIDEO)

First Posted: 10/12/11 05:48 PM ET Updated: 12/12/11 05:12 AM ET

Former "Saturday Night Live" actress, conservative columnist and avowed enemy of both "Glee" and gay people, Victoria Jackson took a video camera to the Occupy Wall Street protests in New York City, predictably trying to inflame the supporters camped out in Zuccotti Park.

She dove right into her particular brand of hateful commentary early, pointing out Ground Zero from her car window and saying "some Muslims flew in to" the Twin Towers.

Once Jackson got down to the protests, she began interviewing both the protesters and those that happened to be passing by. She began by asking what they were protesting, then seizing on their responses. She often brought up President Obama's connection to GE, calling him a Marxist and socialist.

"Right now, 50 percent of people pay taxes and 50 percent do not. So if everyone gets free stuff, who is going to pay for it?" she asked one protester, who said the government "should end the wars and tax the super rich" to end the deficit. Her response? "Class warfare is Marxist."

Continuing her argument with the same protester, she said, "If you want everyone to be equal, how are you going to make them equal in good looks and smart brains? Everyone's not created equal." She later called Van Jones a communist, and then said, "So you don't think Obama is stirring up racial and class warfare, and it's straight out of 'Rules for Radicals' written by Saul Alinsky?"

Then she brought out Jeremiah Wright, devolving into the old anti-Obama arguments.

Glenn Beck recently spoke about the protesters, telling his listeners, "Capitalists, if you think that you can play footsies with these people, you're wrong. They will come for you and drag you into the streets and kill you ... they're Marxist radicals ... These guys are worse than Robespierre from the French Revolution ... They'll kill everybody."

Jackson is known for her provocative conservative statements; in May, she wrote a column slamming "Glee" and made TV appearances hitting out at the show for its inclusion of gay people in its story lines.

"They should have a celibacy campaign and tell kids that 50 percent of teenagers now have this new STD from oral sex. That's what they should try to be doing instead of making kids gay," the former actress said on Showbiz Tonight. "I just want to know why the liberals are pro-Muslim and pro-gays. Muslims kill gays. That's what's confusing to me. And the only thing I can come up with is the Mulims hate God and the gays hate his word."

I'm confused why she would post the video. Though she makes some good comments, overall the main protester she speaks with makes a more logically coherent argument. The main good point was whether Jesus meant the government or individuals and (I assume) the church to give to the poor. Other than that, the main protester answered reasonably well, whereas she was resorting to name calling or gross generalizations. He also showed an ability to think on his feet, whereas she seemed to have prethought or rote responses only. As an example of a gross generalization, she implies we live in a purely captialist system. We don't, it is not 100% capitalist, in that there is Medicaid, Welfare, state disability payments, etc. It's more accurately described as a mixed economy, with a lot of elements of capitalism.

I'm still waiting for this to eventually expose itself as one very long bit. Essentially, I'll hardly be surprised if it is eventually demonstrated that she has pulled a much more convincing and hysterical Phoenix "I'm not Here" rapper hoax. Then again, I won't be holding my breath either. ;)

Who is this woman? Why cover anything she does?

She's a nobody, nothing more than a hate monger hoping to make a buck.

Jackson went to Wall Street not to learn anything about the protests, but to insult anyone with whom she disagrees. Why is this woman given a microphone?

Why isn't someone explaining that we are taxing the rich. The top 25% or so pay about 87% of the personal income taxes collected by the IRS. Bringing the troops home will perhaps save $150b yearly. Increasing the taxes on the rich as Obama proposed last year would raise an additional $70b yearly. Repealing the Bush cuts on everyone only raises another $180b yearly according to the CBO.
Someone needs to say that it is just math. We have the estimated unfunded costs of Medicare over the next 20 years of $70T. Where is that money coming from? I think our government should come clean and tell the country that we are broke and need to stop the crazy spending at the Federal level. The vast majority of states have balanced budgets because there is no other option. The Feds need the same discipline.

Actually according to IRS statistics the wealthiest 25% of Americans pay 86% of federal income taxes but I'm not going to quibble over a single point. Note that the 25 percentile income is about $66K/year AGI which to me is middle class rather than rich. Lets go with the stats for people who by most people's measure are rich. The top 1% who earn at least $348,000/year AGI. The wealthiest 1% of Americans pay 37% of federal income taxes. Different researchers calculate wealth in different ways but a conservative estimate is that the wealthiest 1% of Americans also possess 41% of the wealth. Note that income tax is just one way to collect revenue. While income taxes are indeed progressive nearly every other way governments collect money is effectively regressive. We already effectively have a flat tax because our progressive income tax about cancels out the regressive nature of all of the other way our government collects money.
We need to tax the rich because they are the only group that has benefited from 30 years of Reaganomics and frankly they are the only group who can afford to pay more.

I can hear the cat hissing and distain the writer of this article has for Victoria Jackson in every venomous adjective that is used.

That young man does the University of Maryland, his parents and Christians proud. Outstanding how he argues MERELY on the merits, and doesn't get nasty. Impressive.

She is right on, love the snide reporting. You know you are doing something right when Huffington post reports on you this way. At least one celebrity is standing up to these anarchists.

"Celebrity"? More like "has-been"-this woman hasn't been a "celebrity" in 20 years.

Comments, for the most part, are typical examples of the leftist Democrats' scathing personal criticisms of people with contraian views. So typical! A Democrat professional pollster, this week in the Wall Street Journal, found 85% of the Occupy Wall Street demonstrators HAVE JOBS! Rather, most are far left leaning socialist types who want a "Nannie State". Same old faction that's always around, just needs an occasion to "erupt".

And they gave her air time why? "If you want everyone to be equal, how are you going to make them equal in good looks and smart brains? Everyone's not created equal." "Stop making kids gay"
Not forwarding or giving her any viral credibility.
