Hello Craft: Crafters Unite For Summit Of Awesome 2011

Want To Turn Your Hobby Into A Biz? Don't Miss This Event (Seriously)

A scene from last year's Summit.

Who: Hello Craft, a fabulous non-profit dedicated to advancing and empowering indie crafters, designers and artists.

What: The Summit of Awesome, a 3-day-long convention for indie designers, crafters and artists.

When: October 20-22

Where: Baltimore, MD. "The city is a big hub for creative types," says Kimberly Dorn, the Executive Director of Hello Craft. "It's easier to live there as a crafter or artist—it's cheaper and there's a great community of like-minded artists."

Why: It gives creative types a chance to meet while learning how to be their own bosses. "Our ultimate goal is to give people the skills to make their hobby into a part- or full-time living, but also provide a fun networking experience that encourages new ideas," says TK. You'll do everything from learn (in plain language) how to legally have your own business to pitching your craft book idea directly to an agent. And there will be fun stuff, too: Like lunch with Project Runway alum Jay McCarroll and a Saturday night Craft Throwdown.

We're totally going to the Summit and hope to see you there. For more info, visit Hello Craft. And for live updates, follow #summitofawesome on Twitter.
