As the Occupy Wall Street movement in New York reached its one-month-anniversary, hundreds of thousands rallied around the world this weekend saying, "We are the 99%."

The Associated Press reports that many of the largest protests were in Europe, where 'Occupy' protests joined forces with ongoing demonstrations against austerity measures.

Take a look at photos from 'Occupy' protests around the world:

Just wondering why photos from Occupy Toronto (and any occupy chapters in Canada) haven't been included. I know I've submitted many myself.

Funny how the shenanigans which are common knowledge today would have been derided as "conspiracy theory" just a short time ago.

Now this is true globalism! The 99% rising up as one global body and shrugging off the elites.

I'm guessing it's "How can we get more money, because we clearly don't have enough"

either that or "Release the hounds!"

chompchompchomp...

for most of us that's our jaws and our stomachs. For the 1%, it's their brains.

All this movement did not go global upon OccupyWallStreet ir started in Egypt, got big impulse from Wikileaks, then caught form in 15M in Madrid...It was alrready global and US citizens caught up on it until recently

One of the signs reads "Protests- Too Big To Fail"
Brilliant, and becoming more true every day!

The Greek government has begun to shut down in solidarity with the unions. They're planning to overthrow themselves.

The revolution isn't getting a whole lot of media coverage considering how big it is. Apparently, the revolution will indeed not be televised. I had to dig to find this piece. I thought for sure it would at least be the main but that lasted one day. Sure sign those people corporations are worried.

Except for Madrid and Rome, all the protests were very tiny. There were lots of them, but they were very tiny.

Let's say the average turnout was 200 people per location. Let's say the protest occurred in 1000 locations worldwide. That's a quarter of a million people, not so tiny anymore. And this isn't over. Those crowds will grow with every new protest, just like it happened during the seventies anti-war protests.

The early marches against American involvement in Vietnam were tiny. The early marches of the civil rights movement were tiny.

Funny... I just posted my slide show cut to the music 'The Revolution will not be televised". So, we, ourselves, have to get the word out... I shot this slide show because everyone in my community had their head buried in pie instead of going to the march in LA... literally: they were all at The Pie Festival! Check out the crowd in LA - just like you and me - at http://www.flashnomad.com ... and spread the word!

Flashnomad! I did see your piece and loved it. In fact it's your piece that inspired my remark. Great work. What can you do with a bunch of empty pieholes? Not much eh?

Way before Wall Street, the "Indignados" started to protest in Spain in the 15-May Movement and people have been camping out for months already.

¡Arriba la Revolución!

It is about time for the apathy to be over.

People need to get active, organize, register and VOTE.

Elections are too important to let the 1% decide.

Our vote is useless. Politics and politicians are pre-bought by the big companies that finance their campaigns with millions of dollars while we, the citizens, are limited with regards to the amount that we can give to a single candidate or party. Go figure.

Our energy would best be spent trying to get campaign contribution laws changed. THAT is what is wrong with our system at the core and, until we illegalize this type of bribery, it won´t matter whom you vote for.
10:22 AM on 10/18/2011
You have to VOTE and elect people that will change the campaign finance laws.

The Republicans blocked campaign finance reform in congress.

Corporate millions don't matter because corporations have no more voting power than we do. They can't buy our votes no matter how much money they spend. All we have to do is show up on election day. Not that hard.

In London, there's a sign "Capitalism is Crisis"...

... but England has been a socialist country since the post war era.

There is only one global economy nowadays and it is capitalist.
