Baby Lisa Missing: FAA Halts Flights While Police Search Area Near Infant's Home

As investigators searched a wooded area for missing Missouri infant Lisa Irwin on Tuesday, the FAA reportedly implemented a temporary flight restriction in the skies overhead.

Police scoured an area in Kansas City just blocks from the home where the 10-month-old baby was last seen in her crib by her mother, MSNBC reports.

In order "to provide a safe environment for law enforcement," the FAA established a flight ceiling of 1,500 feet and 2 nautical miles over the search zone -- an area investigators have now searched four times, according to MSNBC.

After returning from a late shift at work early on Oct. 4, Baby Lisa's father Jeremy Irwin reported the 10-month-old missing. Irwin and the child's mother, Deborah Bradley, believe Baby Lisa was abducted while the family slept.

In recent interviews, Bradley says she consumed "enough to be drunk" on the night that Baby Lisa disappeared and last saw the child after putting her to bed at around 6:40 p.m. -- about four hours earlier than the time she first told investigators.

Bradley claims police are trying to blame her for her child's disappearance. Investigators say they are seeking greater communication with Baby Lisa's parents, alleging that the couple haven't sat down face-to-face with police since Oct. 8.

As authorities searched the woods in Kansas City, officers more than 100 miles away in Manhattan, Kan., received word of an alleged sighting of the missing child, WIBW reports.

At around 1 p.m., a woman eating at McAlister's Deli alerted police that she saw an infant fitting Baby Lisa's description in the company of two women who piqued her suspicion.

The women drove off with the child in a small black car, perhaps a 1998 or 1999 model, that appeared to have Missouri plates, the station notes.

"We were unable to locate any such vehicle," Captain Kurt Moldrup, an administrator with the Riley County Police Department, told WIBW. "We then put out an attempt to locate to other area agencies just to make sure we had the bases covered. Obviously, we took this tip seriously but that's all we have. We have no way of knowing whether it was the baby or not."

Anyone with information about Baby Lisa's whereabouts is urged to call the TIPS hotline at 816-474-8477.

What I will never understand is (providing it was a parent) there are options to not keep a child. There are so many people wanting to adopt and of course there is the aborting option. Not that I agree with abortion but I'd rather see someone choose that option than kill their born child. I'm not saying that the parents are guilty but if they are...this is happening way too often.

The mom says the baby was sick with a cough and a cold, yet no reports from her that she gave her any meds this day, or called her doctor, or gave her any treatment whatsoever...pretty odd. When I had a 10 mth old, and he was sick, I gave him Tylenol, or Triaminic or put a humidifier in his room, yet no statement from either parent about medicine or treatment.

I totally believe the mother had something to do with it. Who doesn't even check on their child for 4.5 hours?

they might be too focused on the parents to find the actual kidnappers if it wasnt the parents. If the mom hurt the baby while drunk there would be evidence in the house so send forensics team into the house and cars to rule out parents. But who is gonna sneak into someones house in the middle of the night and steal a baby? It wouldnt be someone that drove by and said hhhmmm that looks like a good house lets go see if there is a baby in that room right there so it would have to be someone they know or the parents so I would look for the someone they know because the child would still be alive, and exhaust that route first. If it was the parents the child is already dead so they will have more then enough time to investigate them and the truth will come out sooner or later. Also who cares if its a white kid or a black kid? Its a kid! racist people always think everyone else is racist and are the first ones to open their mouths about someone else. This is about a missing child, go somewhere else with the BS

What is clearly disturbing is, that it is illegal to drive a car while intoxicated, but it is ok to let your child become abducted (or worse) while you are in charge of their care, and there is no punishment or repercussions for it.

It should be illegal to care for children while intoxicated...

Mother did... being drunk she lost control perhaps the baby was crying. Husband came home and help her rid the body to protect her. mark my words thats what happened

Sadly, you are most likely correct. After you read enough of these stories the pattern crosses all racial and ethnic divides, but remains most common for those in the lower socio-economic strata.

You're probably right but, I really hope she's still alive and they find her.

The police are not "alleging" that the couple have not sat down with them. They are stating a fact.

I think the mother had something to do with the baby disappearing. My take her to jail for a few days might help them answer questions.

If baby Lisa was black then this story never would have gained this amount of media attention.

I'm beginnig to think the mother buried her somewhere. Drunk, she may have harmed the baby, gone too far maybe.
