'Dancing With The Stars' Week 5 Performances: The Good, The Bad & Ricki's Rabbit (VIDEO)

'DWTS': The Good, The Bad & Ricki's Rabbit

It was '80s night on "Dancing With the Stars" this week and for some, that meant reliving all of the bad hair, bad fashion and even bad dance moves ... like the Roger Rabbit.

The seemingly unstoppable Ricki Lake couldn't keep the beat doing the Roger Rabbit this week, even after some encouragement from surprise guest, filmmaker John Waters, who gave Ricki her big break in 1988's 'Hairspray.'

Unfortunately for Ricki, her off-beat rhythm definitely hurt her scores. After scoring two 10s last week for her thrilling 'Psycho' tango, not to mention being atop the leaderboard for three weeks in a row, Ricki dropped the ball this week, and perhaps her shot at the Mirror Ball, only scoring a 24 and losing her top spot to J.R. Martinez.

But her floppy Roger Rabbit wasn't her and partner Derek's only problem. Surprisingly, for the first time, we finally saw Derek's weakness -- his age! Having not grown up in the '80s, Derek confessed that he was a little out of his element this week.

But Derek, just because you were a fetus in 1985 does not give you an excuse for not knowing your '80s.

While I don't think Ricki deserved such a poor score, I do think that this was J.R.'s week to reclaim his No. 1 position on the leaderboard because he did have his best dance of the competition thus far.

The night finally belonged to J.R., or shall I say Jose Rene Martinez? He danced a sexy sultry samba with partner Karina Smirnoff, and it was everything a hip-shaking samba should be: fun, fast-paced and energetic, and it earned Jose Rene his first 10 of the competition, from judge Bruno. Shakira would have been proud.

J.R.'s hips definitely don't lie, and it's nice to see the soap star finally get the recognition he deserves.

Just when I had given up on him, Chaz Bono proved me wrong. He looked confident, energized and ready to dance. Even better? His feisty spirit was back!

Honestly, I couldn't even be mad at Lacey this week because she looked like a cute little funfetti cupcake, and she and Chaz were actually getting along again.

This week, I think Lacey finally realized that she needed a little help choreographing Chaz, so she asked her dad Buddy to help her out, and he really brought Chaz out of his shell -- and taught him how to shake it! Buddy really gave Chaz the boost he needed to be comfortable and confident on the dance floor.

My only complaint? He didn't dance to Cher's 1989 comeback hit 'If I Could Turn Back Time.' I mean, how awesome would that have been?!

It was also an epic comeback for David Arquette, who performed an edgy tango with partner Kym Johnson. It was his best dance of the competition, earning a 9 from Len, who he playfully mocked in rehearsals -- and on the dancefloor. I have to say, I want what David's having because he's always so contagiously goofy, and did I mention that his daughter Coco might just be the cutest celebrity kid on the planet? How can you not smile when the camera pans to her and she just looks so proud of her dad?!

Meanwhile, Hope Solo and Maks had a so-so tango. The judges agreed that Hope seemed sexy, strong and powerful, but Len seemed to think she was also too "willowy in the body." Tell me Len, how can one be powerful and willowy at the same time?

Trying to loosen up the ever-tense Hope, Maks told her, "Just sell it like a sexy bitch." Believe me Maks, no one can be a sexy bitch in that red, latex straightjacket she was forced to wear tonight. Seriously, who dresses these people? Oh wait, it is '80s week. Perhaps Hope was channeling her inner Madonna? Bruno did say that she got the "'80s super bitch down to a tee."

Carson Kressley is a hot mess on that dance floor -- but he's honestly the most fun to watch. Now, I know that I get upset when good dancers get eliminated (I mean you, Chynna Phillips) and the bad ones stay, but I have to be honest: I just love Carson's energy. Does this make me a bad person? I have no idea.

Anna pretty much summed it up when she told Carson, "You're kind of the heart and entertainment of this competition." This week, Carson channeled his inner Wham!-addicted cheerleader for a really fun (but not really technical) jive. It's pretty fitting that Carson was a cheerleader because he's really going to need his fans' votes this week. Hopefully, he can at least make it to next week because it's Broadway night in the ballroom, and I think Carson can have some fun with show tunes.

Meanwhile, we come to find out that Nancy Grace was a cheerleader. Yes, a cheerleaders, and she even did a cheer for Tristan (and the cameras) in rehearsals. I'm not going to lie, it was possibly the peppiest I've ever seen her. But I do have some advice for Nancy: Don't ever tell Tristan to stop talking. I'm pretty sure that his sexy Irish accent is the only reason you're still in this competition ... and the only reason I continue to write about you.

Also, the best line of the night goes to Tristan. After Nancy showed him her version of a sexy rumba, Tristan stated, "That was drunk sex, that what that is." I could seriously just watch two hours of Tristan and Nancy every week. This couple is hysterical.

Now judging from a lot the comments, I know some of you don't support Rob Kardashian, but I have to be honest with you, as long as his super famous family keeps supporting him on Twitter, he's pretty much in it until the finals. Out of all of the contestants, Rob just might have the biggest fan base. However, you have to admit that Rob does win the award for most improved. This week he finally looked like a strong, confident leading man, and his sexy rumba with partner Cheryl Burke really impressed the judges, earning a 9 from Carrie Ann.

Side note: doesn't Cheryl kind of look like a mini Kardashian?

Do I think he actually deserved a 9? Not really, but maybe Carrie Ann just wants an invite to Kim Kardashian's next wedding.

"Dancing With the Stars" airs Mondays at 8PM ET and Tuesdays at 9PM ET on ABC.
