Michele Bachmann: Obama 'Put Us In Libya. He Is Now Putting Us In Africa' (VIDEO)

First Posted: 10/18/11 11:00 PM ET Updated: 12/18/11 05:12 AM ET

Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) criticized President Obama's foreign policy during Tuesday night's CNN debate, saying, "Now with the president, he put us in Libya. He is now putting us in Africa. We already were stretched too thin, and he put our special operations forces in Africa," she said.

Libya, it should be noted, is in Africa.

Bachmann was referring to Obama's recent announcement that he will be sending 100 U.S. troops to Uganda to help battle rebels from the Lord's Resistance Army.

In October of 2006, before Bachmann emerged as a superstar of the conservative movement, the Minnesota congresswoman raised eyebrows when she suggested that a sizable portion of the scientific community discredits the theory of evolution.

Bachmann said, "There are hundreds and hundreds of scientists, many of them holding Nobel Prizes, who believe in intelligent design."

More recently, Bachmann discussed her views on the matter at this year's Republican Leadership Conference.

"I support intelligent design," she told reporters at the conservative gathering, according to CNN. "What I support is putting all science on the table and then letting students decide. I don't think it's a good idea for government to come down on one side of scientific issue or another, when there is reasonable doubt on both sides."

She is not a legit Presidential candidate except in the minds of hopeful liberals.  I never saw HuffPo post any blogs about the 57 state gaffe by Obama.  I am not Bauchmann fan at all but come one, give her a break.  You know how hard it is front of all those people in the TV audience to always choose the right words.  I think what she was saying in this instance isn't that hard - there  Read More...

The fact that Whoopie thinks Obama is presidential material renders incredible and irrelevant any further comment from her on the topic of what qualifies as presidential material as she obviously has no clue.

I think Michele Bachmann does not know Libya is in Africa when she says "Obama wants to put us in Africa after Libya". Just imagine making Bachmann president.

I personally would love to see Michelle Bachmann and Sarah Palin debate each other. That would be the most hilarious thing ever!!! When will someone think of that? Incredible. Stupidity reigns supreme in this country. The only way someone like Michelle or Sarah could ever make it as far as they did. "Stupid is as stupid does" said the wise Forrest Gump.

This is just to show you how many idiots we have elected in the United States House of Representatives, just like the founding fathers worked tirelessly to end slavery. LOL, someone give me a break. Tammy Baker Bachman is a political joke, Ron Paul and Bachmann would have made a good match. I think the eleminating process for the candicy of United States President should have some rule change because it is apparent that we have a lot of politically ignorants in America that support these jokes. Someone need to introduce real solutions in America how to jump start the economy and so far I have not seen one solution introduced, not one.

Once more Michele provides the alternate to the Sunday funnies. Quote: "What I support is putting all science on the table and then letting students decide. I don't think it's a good idea for government to come down on one side of scientific issue or another, when there is reasonable doubt on both sides."
Uh, Michele, why are they called "students"? Could it be that they are still "learning"? According to her world, I'm should let the student learning auto mechanics decide when my car is safe not the instructor. So now, straight to the nearest high school classroom to fix the car!
Now to discuss the "scientific issue" of Intelligent Design. What aspect of ID is based on science? What experiments were conducted, what assumptions were tested? I suspect ID is based on religion, not science. It is therefore not subject to the scientific method and is accepted as a matter of faith. Or is Michele actually saying that her faith should be tested using the scientific method?
"Reasonable doubt" means doubt based on reason, not just any doubt that comes along. I might doubt the world is round, but is my doubt "reasonable"? Apart from the government coming down on the side of proven fact rather than conjecture or sponsorship of tools of research like the Hubble telescope, let's note that ID prides itself for its spiritual foundation. And that is fine -- but a spiritual foundation specifically rejects reason in favor of faith.
Ah, Michele. Thanks again.

ID is an obvious backdoor method of teaching creationism in classrooms. The Supreme Court ruled that creationism cannot be taught, so the 'belife is the same as reallity' crowd just changed the name to Intelgent Design thinking no one would spot a clever ruse like that.

Bachmanns' statement not only indicates that she doesn't know that Lybia is a country located on the continent of Africa

It further indicates that she intended to intentionally lie and represent to a National TV audience that Obama involved the country in Two military actions that she claims should never have happened as opposed to one.

There is no chance of her getting the nominaton. She should not be allowed to participate in future "Debates". Not only doesshe takes up time that could be used by the other candidates (who at least have the knowledge of a third grade geography student) her comments are embarrasing to the United States in the eyes of the rest of the world.
