Shonn Greene Runs Over Referee During Jets-Dolphins Game (VIDEO)

Jets RB Runs Over Referee On Monday Night Football

Despite paying lip service to the "Ground and Pound" style that helped them to the past two editions of the AFC Championship Game, the New York Jets have ranked near the bottom of the NFL in rushing yards per game this season. On Monday, the Jets' running game had little to do with their 24-6 win over the Miami Dolphins.

Although Shonn Greene and LaDainian Tomlinson did combine to rush for 99 yards, it took them 28 carries to cover that distance. The duo's most effective running came late, after Gang Green had control of the game. With just over four minutes remaining, Greene reeled off the longest run of the night when he rushed up the middle for 20 yards.

He may have picked up even more yards if not for a referee.

Once Greene burst through the hole and got behind Miami's first line of defense, the 226-pound running back found a referee blocking his path. Greene kept barreling forward, knocking the official down. Although the ref initially forced Greene to slow up slightly, it's possible the collision ultimately helped, as the official fell into Dolphins safety Reshad Jones. The 26-year-old gained eight additional yards after first contact.. with the ref.

No officials appear to have been harmed during the making of this highlight.
