Allen West: Occupy Wall Street Has Ties To Communists, Nazis, MLK Would Not Have Supported It

Allen West Occupy Wall Street

Rep. Allen West (R-Fla.) said the Occupy Wall Street movement was "laughable" for its "hypocrisy" and alleged that the movement had ties to the Communists and Nazis in an interview Tuesday night with conservative media outlet Newsmax.

"I think the hypocrisy of this movement is somewhat laughable," he said. "I would agree with them that we don’t need to have crony capitalism in the United States of America, where we have government picking winners or losers in the free market or trying to be a venture capitalist. But when I see signs that these people are holding up signs saying ‘end capitalism,’ then my question is: What do you replace it with?"

"I think there is a danger in the people on Capitol Hill starting to embrace this movement, especially now that we know that the American Nazi Party and the American Communist Party are also starting to align themselves with this Occupy movement," he said.

Protestors calling themselves members of "Occupy Palm Beach" protested a town hall for West Tuesday chanting "Hey, hey, ho, ho, Allen West needs to go!"

West disputed, as President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden have said, that the Occupy Wall Street movement is similar to the Tea Party.

"When you talk to somebody with the Tea Party, they can tell you what they want -- limited government that’s constitutionally mandated, fiscal responsibility, they also want to see our free market and free enterprise systems adhered to, as well as our national security," he said.

West won election in a South Florida district in 2010 that voted for Obama in 2008, in no small part due to Tea Party support. "But when you talk to these Occupy Wall Street gangs, they’re all over the place. It’s like a shotgun as opposed to a precision-guided munition," he said.

West, who is African-American, rejected that Martin Luther King Jr. would have supported the movement. "Martin Luther King Jr. would not have backed these types of protesters. He had a focus, a message. He was divinely inspired. I don’t know what the inspiration is for these individuals."

King's daughter said her father would have looked favorably upon the Occupy Wall Street movement. Obama drew parallels between King and the Occupy Wall Street movement Sunday at the dedication for Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial in Washington, D.C.

When asked whether the protests could turn violent, West said, "I think there's a propensity for that. I’m very concerned about class warfare rhetoric." In the 2010 campaign, West faced accusations over his connections to the Outlaws Motorcycle Gang, which the FBI targeted for violent crimes. He also was forced to retire from the Army in 2003 after firing a gun past an Iraqi police officer in an effort to get information.

Speaking to small crowd at a retirement community in Florida on Oct. 4, Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney expressed an unsympathetic view of the Occupy Wall Street movement. "I think it's dangerous, this class warfare," he said. Romney declined to comment further when asked about the protests by ABC. His response? "I'm just trying to get myself to occupy the White House."

During a campaign stop in New Hampshire Oct. 10 Romney was a bit more sympathetic. "I worry about the 99 percent in America," he said, later adding, "I understand how those people feel."

Allen West should read this article: "Just Camp Here and Stay:" Dr. King and the Occupy Wall Street Movement. http://www.tikkun.org/tikkundaily/2011/10/18/just-camp-here-and-stay-dr-king-and-the-occupy-wall-street-movement/

This man is a disgrace! He should have been court martialed and JAILED for what he did while he was in Iraq; then we would not have to worry about the incredible foolishness he spouts in the political arena.

Or given a medal for saving the lives of American soldiers. The man has his point of view and speaks his mind openly, I respect his freedom of speech as much as the occupy wall streeters.

You do not get a medal, nor do you save the lives of American soldiers when you walk up to an Iraqi police officer, suspect or not, and fire a gun off next to his head (ear). West was forced to retire for that little piece of brillance. If you advocate doing things like that and think such actions advance our cause in the world and saves lives, I feel very sorry for you and your perception of what America is supposed to be about.

I am sure that you (west) know more about MLK than his daughter does. Do you also believe he would have supported torture you participated in while in Iraq? Even though he opposed Vietnam, you believe he would have supported the Iraq war? In fact, anyone with his beliefs today you would call an anti-war socialist.

And a bleeding heart, looney liberal. Martin King would have called Mr West out for the bully and hypocrite that he is.

He's laughable for his hypocrisy, another hater spouting bs. So, MLK would not have supported OWS? But Jesse Jackson was out there linking arms to protect the medical tent.

True.

However, Jackson did march with King and was with him the day of his assassination.

Where was West at the time...?

I do not understand why people are getting so worked up about his comments. The communist party has meshed into the Chicago protesters. These protesters have even cheered for their fellow anti-capitalists. The American Nazi Party has also been attracted by the anti-Semitic rantings of the protesters.

The Occupy Oakland protesters have devolved into thieves, drug dealers and thugs. Because what you are seeing is not pleasant, does not detract from its truth.

In all seriousness, remember that move "Escape from NY"? The premise was that Manhattan is a prison city walled-in and surrounded by guards. How'z bout we take these posturing imbeciles who defect from humanity to support greed and terrorism, and place them with their own kind in a place like this for real! Unfortunately, we would need something of this scale to contain them. I would volunteer to be a guard (WOW - maybe I could even be employed again) and watch them wallow in their own feces.

Karma: What Goes Around Comes Around

For those who may have missed it, yesterday. Let’s look at his “HYPOCRISY”

He should be sitting in a cell in Ft. Leavenworth not sitting in the Senate in the Capital, his military career ended after he tortured an Iraqi Policemen. What he won’t say is that he fired his weapon near the Policeman's head after 4 of his soldiers beat him hitting him in the head and body repeatedly because they say he appeared to be reaching for a weapon. At which time Allen placed his weapon close to his head and fired. All of this occurred because West received information from an intelligence specialist about a reported plot to ambush him and his men. The policeman provided information which he later described as "meaningless information induced by fear and pain." West was charged with violating articles 128 (assault) and 134 (general article) of the Uniform Code of Military Justice. The charges were ultimately referred to an Article 15 proceeding rather than court-martial, at which West was fined $5,000. LTC West accepted the judgment and retired with full benefits in the summer of 2004.

Allen West self proclaimed “Harriet Tubman” of the today, really? He seems to think so but watch listen to what he says and then does to his own brother who may be a 99% if he still hasn’t found a job or perhaps is a Democrat which is why West won’t help him.

You must have missed this part:

"The policeman provided information which he later described as "meaningless information induced by fear and pain."

Where did you get your information?

As a veteran of the first Gulf War myself, I am disgusted by his behavior and his tactics. Personally, the Army allowed him to receive an Article 15 vs. Court Martial in the best interest of the Army.
