Justin Bieber Wanted To Rhyme In BET Cypher, Says DJ Premier

So Justin Bieber walks into a freestyle cipher...

That's not the beginning of a joke — it almost happened. DJ Premier, the legendary hip-hop producer and DJ, said on his blog that the Beebs asked him if he could participate in the 2011 edition of the BET Cyphers, which air during the network's yearly Hip Hop Awards. The ciphers are made up of several well-known rappers — Eminem, Rick Ross, Meek Millz — switch off on the mic.

Not all the participants are MCs — this year, the pop singers Chris Brown and Estelle rhymed —and Premier said he doesn't care who raps as long as they're good. "Everyone was worried that that might mess up the integrity of BET," Premier said of Bieber's request to participate. "I was like, 'As long as he got a dope rhyme, let him spit.' But then we heard, 'Oh, he wants Luda to write his rhyme...' And I was like, 'Oh, no, no, no, no, no. If you ain't writing your own rhyme, you can't do it.' So, Justin you got to take a back seat. Write your own rhyme, honey. You got to call him 'honey' on that one."

In case you're wondering how Bieber might have fared in the cipher, check out the video below. You can say this about Bieber's rhyming: he is very well-intentioned.

BET is garbage, so who cares.. Most of these so call talent (ex-gang members, drug dealers, pimp etc..) is marketed as culture to Blacks all over the world, who embrace them as if they are some science/math gurus.

Most of the rappers have a ghost writer, so what is the difference? You will be surprise who truly can rap.

People want to clown on Bieber and he gets denied from doing Cypher freestyle, aren't there more actual rappers in the game that have penned songs from other rappers anyway?

Not sure if Bieber wrote his own verse or had helped or w/e but he is on Chris Brown's Boy in Detention: "Ladies Love Me" which uses David Banner's "Stuntin is a Habit" beat.

*If BET cared about its "integrity" they would stop with all these wack shows, 106 & Dull and bring back shows black people can be proud of..guess that's what happens when Viacom buys shares on the network smh

They should make Eminem sit it out too. His so-called raps sounds like nothing but crying to me. Just sayin'. I'm sure this comment won't make it on HP.

Hey... If rock & roll can allow Lil Wayne to be a rocker, and country music can let both Bobby Brown & Lil Wayne slap some leather... Then BET should be able to let the little fellow do his rap. I mean, its not like it would be the first time they sold out.

You guys are not True Beliebers. Need I remind you of Isaiah 11:6, "The wolf will live with the lamb, the leopard will lie down with the goat, the calf and the lion and the yearling together; and a little child will lead them."

Bieber is clearly prophesied in scripture.

There's on "intelligence" on BET or else why even have these garbage videos and so call talent/lyrical geniuses.

The only reason folks are happy about not having Bieber on BET is because he is White. If he were Black, they would allow it, since his so call talent isn't any better than most talents on BET.
