Derrick Rose Passenger In L.A. DUI Arrest

A close friend of Chicago Bulls guard Derrick Rose was arrested early Friday morning and charged with DUI in Los Angeles early Friday morning.

Randall Hampton was reportedly driving while Rose, 23, sat in the passenger seat of a black BMW when they were pulled over on a routine traffic violation around 2 a.m., the Chicago Sun-Times reports. After police reportedly smelled alcohol in the car, Hampton was arrested on suspicion of DUI after taking a field sobriety test, while Rose was free to go, police confirmed.

TMZ originally reported that Rose, the NBA's reigning most valuable player, walked out of a Los Angeles police station around 3 a.m. Friday after Hampton was booked. Hampton reportedly played basketball with Rose when the two attended junior college together in Texas.

CBS Chicago reports that Hampton was also Rose's personal assistant. His bail was set at $5,000 and he was released at 6:10 a.m. Friday.
