BBC Bans Bins From Desk Areas Because They Make Staff 'Territorial'

What a load of rubbish.

Staff at the BBC have been banned from keeping rubbish bins near their desks.

Bosses think it makes employees “territorial” and stops them from mixing with other people in the office.

According to reports, Peter Salmon, the head of BBC North, said bins should only be located next to the photocopiers and in the kitchen.

Mr Salmon told The Daily Telegraph: “We think it makes people move round a bit more, collaborate a little bit more and get to know their colleagues, learn new things about different ways of working.

“If people become territorial and defensive about their own space, they tend to work in less efficient ways.
