Grad Student Creates 3D Model Of City That Can Play Piano (Video)

WATCH: The Strangest Way To Play Piano

Akko Goldenbeld, a graduate student at the Design Academy Eindhoven, has created a realistic model of the city that doubles as a music roll for a player piano. Maintaining the integrity of the concept, different structures in the model trigger different sounds. The city center's towers play notes louder than the soft-spoken villas in the south of the city. The model works by using the varying heights of the structures to hit miniature wooden hammers that, in turn, trigger the notes of the piano.

Goldenbeld is presenting his unique player piano at the graduation show that is part of the larger Dutch Design Week that goes until October 30. View a video of Goldenbeld playing his piano below and on his website.
