In what media reports are broadly describing as an about-face, President Obama announced yesterday that he will fight the release of photos allegedly showing US soldiers abusing detainees in Iraq and Afghanistan.

McClatchy notes that "the timing of the president's decision suggests that a key factor behind his switch of position could have been a desire to prevent the release of the photos before a speech that he's to give June 4 in Egypt aimed at convincing the world's Muslims that the United States isn't at war with them."

Lets face it folks...Dead is dead....I'm so tired of the analysis everyday on how he died. He is dead and that's that. As for the people who say that this is a bad start to a democracy, lets not forget that the colonists would go in the middle of the night and slit the throats of the British regulars while they slept in their houses. Democracy's always start off with a blood bath; then they calm down. The one thing I am not happy about is that while we are beating our chests of what a success it was to help the "Rebels"; the new "government" has declared Shariah Law from here on out......thats a good thing?

Anyone who briefly examines the bloody histories and feuds amongst the Bedouin tribesmen in this region can come to the conclusion that his barbaric treatment of Quadaffi is hardly atypical. Libya will now enter sectarian strife as over 100 tribes with different blood feuds that sometimes date over 300 years old will fight one another to vie for control of Libya.

Sorry, but all this concern about the demise of this monster is irrevelevant and undeserved. Whatever happened to him during his capture was well deserved. he was shown no more mercy than his supporters gave those who were tortured, shot, and burned alive at his bidding. the world was spared another media circus like Saddam's trial, and the money saved on on such a trial will be much better used to help rebuild a new and better country for all Libyans. It's time to move on!

That comment is kind of harsh don't you think? After all, we're not talking about an alleged murderer and torturer.....Khaddafi was completely guilty. Let's remember that this was the man who sponsored many terrorist groups and was responsible for the murder of over 200 victims of PanAm 103. Sometimes the fury of the people is ruthless and destructive. Some of these rebels may have had their families raped and murdered by the Khaddafi regime. And I don't remember any relative inquiries by any entity when Benito Mussolini and his mistress were dragged by a mob of Italian partisans to the center square and hung upside down.
