WASHINGTON -- Michel Richard's meatball eatery, Meatballs, could open as early as this weekend.
The Huffington Post was given an exclusive sneak peek of the space at 626 E St. NW in Penn Quarter early Monday morning. Last-minute construction is still underway, but tables and chairs are already in place, with empty cheese and pepper shakers placed atop them to boot. As we reported last week, the eatery will offer several types of meatballs and sauces served either on a roll as a "grinder" or with spaghetti.
A representative for the restaurant said that a soft opening might take place Saturday or Sunday if everything falls into place, but it could open as late as Tuesday next week. He also said to be on the lookout for "Meatballs" T-shirts that, like much of the space's cheeky signage, place an emphasis on the "balls." Nothing crude, of course, he assured.
