Ryan Trecartin Leaves Elizabeth Dee Gallery

Ryan Trecartin Shocker

Buzzworthy video artist Ryan Trecartin has left his gallery representation in New York, Elizabeth Dee, according to Gallerist NY.

Trecartin and Elizabeth Dee began their relationship with the showing of his 2007 film, "I-Be Area," which became the artist's breakout work. After the massive success of the piece, Trecartin went on to be part of the 2009 "Younger Than Jesus" exhibition at the New Museum, where he was critically lauded as a highlight of the show.

In recent years, Trecartin has become has become a critical darling; commentators seem to almost universally approve of his output, including his latest, "Any Ever," which was shown at MoMA PS1 in New York and at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles.

There is no word of where Trecartin will find new representation, but sources say that the artist is fielding a number of offers. "There's not one gallery of major significance that is not going to take an interest in what he's doing," the source told Gallerist.
