Newt Gingrich Compares Himself To Dead 'The Sixth Sense' Character

Newt Gingrich Sixth Sense

In the midst of his run for president, Newt Gingrich has made it clear to voters that movies are his domain.

Earlier this month, the GOP presidential candidate revealed to a New Hampshire newspaper that "The Hangover" was one of his favorite films. On Monday, Gingrich heaped more Hollywood magic on a crowd in Iowa, comparing himself to a dead character from the 1999 thriller, "The Sixth Sense".

The Des Moines Register provides the details on the exchange:

Gingrich, who has lagged in most polls, said that his performances in recent presidential debates have generated new interest in his campaign. In the past month he has had more people donate to the campaign than in the previous three months, he told the crowd today.

Later in Maquoketa he compared himself to a character in the movie the "Sixth Sense,” whom everyone else knew was dead but him. He said the “elite media” may have written off his campaign but he’s the candidate with the most experience and solutions and that he believes the campaign will be resurrected.

Yahoo's The Ticket took Gingrich's point to task. Dr. Malcolm Crowe (played by Bruce Willis) fits Gingrich's description. If Newt is in fact making reference to Crowe, the character still died (even if he didn't know he was dead).

Despite Gingrich's optimism, the numbers tell a darker picture. Recent reports revealed that his campaign is millions in debt, and the latest polls still show an uphill climb.

But fiscal woes have done little to damage the former House speaker's competitive spirit. Take Gingrich's Monday comments at an Iowa town hall, where he likened GOP competitors Mitt Romney and Rick Perry to children.

"I literally felt like, the other night, I was the recess monitor on the playground, watching these two kids," said Gingrich via CNN Political Ticker, referencing the pair's squabbling at last Tuesday's presidential debate in Las Vegas.

I was looking for the fact in the article that he has raised over 2.1 million in the last month ...his debt is 1 million ...that gives him a surplus ...

With him rising in the polls he could be on track to receive even more per month, If he gains momentum he will be tough to feed ...I mean beat.....lol..lol.. I couldn't help it ...

Seriously , Newt is the only I see as beating the president in a debate , on any topic... Actually it would be brutal, Gingrich knows what the president understands and what he doesn't.

Newt would use it to his advantage and get the president all ...uuuuuhhh uuuuhhh ~ pause ~ Well Newt ... I think Uuuhhhh ~.... George Bush ! And the Democrats cheer ...yeaaahhh!!!!

This GOP "ideas man" may as well go home. His ideas went out of style and substance in the 90s. He, like Cain, is in this to sell books and garner higher speaking fees as being a former "presidential candidate" rather than a has-been Speaker of the House.

I still have to agree with the Comedy section that compared Newt to the Sta-Puft Marshmallow Man in "Ghostbusters". The resemblance is uncanny!

Speaking of "Ghostbusters", Carly Fiorina's "Demon Sheep" ad reminded me of the scene where the monster emerged from the statue.

Newt's next personal analogy to a film will be "The Waterboy."

What a knucklehead.
We're supposed to believe that the guy who wants to be thought of as the most mature and intellectual member of the GOP POTUS wannabees (as if that'd be something to crow about) enjoys silly movies just like us lil' ol' non-thinking common folk.

"Elite media"? Make up your mind. Is it the Elite Media or the Liberal Media - certainly they can not be one and the same.

A recess monitor? Recess monitors intervene when kids misbehave - they moderate or they kick butt; Newt isn't up to the challenge.

Millions in campaign debt.. what an excellent example of fiscal restraint. It's not HIS money after all.
What a knucklehead.

Rumors of Newt's [campaign] demise have been greatly exaggerated. Nothing is sure in this GOP process until the votes are in. That's what makes America great--- the voters, not the media, elect the nominee. Newt is running in earnest with intelligence, leadership abilities, experience--- and humor--- on his side.

I agree with you; now, honor your word and work to defeat Republican attempts to "cage" and disenfranchise voters. It's already happening in Ohio, Wisconsin and Florida, among other states, with underhanded tactics developed by ALEC (a Koch Brothers "think tank"). As for Newt running his campaign with humor (although neither the self-effacing humor of Huntsman or the accidental humor of Michele Bachmann), I think Newt follows the old blues lyric "I'm laughing to keep from crying."

Newt is the most qualified and intelligent candidate and would make a great President. Too bad the media keeps wanting Romney to be the candidate so there will be two liberals to choose from Nov 2012.

Yep. Newt is scandal free.
I wonder, in the unlikely event that he is elected, will he be picking wife number four from the pool of White House interns?

Except that character in Sixth Sense did not go about handing out "gifts" from Tiffany's...and he did not have a pumpkin chin.

Now that I think of it, Newt's comparison should have been "Breakfast at Tiffany's".

With Perry continuing to shoot himself in the foot and aiming higher his support will go to Newt. Bachman will hopefully drop out and her support will go to Newt. Cain will soon deflate and his support will got to Newt. I think Gingrich will be the next anti Romney.

So, Newt is positioning himself to be the McCain of this campaign? I think all the GOP candidates are dreaming the same dream.
