It came as no surprise that when Tracy Morgan appeared on "The Rosie Show" on Monday night, the conversation eventually turned to homophobia.
During a controversial stand-up appearance in Nashville, Tennessee, in June the comedian and "30 Rock" star told an audience that he would kill his son if he came out as gay. Though Morgan apologized for the statements, the specter of his homophobic remarks continues to linger.
Speaking to Rosie O'Donnell on her new talk show on Oprah Winfrey's OWN network, Morgan said, "I want to make this place a little bit better than it was when I got here." O'Donnell defended the comedian saying, "I know you're not homophobic, because News Flash! I'm a lesbian."
Morgan, who recently announced his engagement to model Megan Wollover, revealed that he himself was bullied as the result of having an older brother who was "crippled."
"I honed in on my sense of humor because when you're funny in the ghetto they protect you a little bit," he said.
He also joked that "If my son was gay, I wouldn't be mad at him -- I'd ask him to decorate the house."
In the months since Morgan's anti-gay act he has come out in favor of gay marriage, noted his support of repealing "don't ask, don't tell," and met with homeless LGBT youth from NYC's Ali Forney Center.
