Anthony Bologna, Pepper Spray NYPD Officer, Transferred To Work In Staten Island

Anthony Bolgona

First Posted: 10/26/11 05:37 PM ET Updated: 10/26/11 05:37 PM ET

The NYPD officer caught using pepper-spray on two female Occupy Wall Street protestors in September has been transferred to work in Staten Island.

While that might sound like enough torture for some, Bologna is apparently from Staten Island, so the transfer translates into a shorter commute for the 29-year NYPD veteran.

So is it punishment or reward?

Debatable, but officially the reassignment is indeed a relegation from his previous, high ranking title as Deputy Inspector. Bologna will begin reporting to Staten Island's borough command as a special projects coordinator.

Earlier this month, Bologna was disciplined with a loss of 10 vacation days, or the equivalent in pay docked from his $154,000 annual salary.

Since the incident, two videos showing Bologna's unprovoked use of pepper-spray surfaced and went viral sparking outrage from protestors and media alike.

As an act of retribution, the hackers group Anonymous identified Bologna and leaked his personal information including his address, phone number, and names of known family members.

The disgraced officer says he's been "tortured" since the controversial incident. However, according to DNAinfo, if he could go back in time Bologna admits no regret and says he "would do things the same way."

He should be thankful that he was held accountable for his disgusting actions because accountability was the only thing that prevented a mob from smashing his skull on the sidewalk and beating him to within an inch of his life. This man is an absolute disgrace to humanity.

If I were a more agressive type of person, I might suggest that the people of Staton Island arm themselves with pepper spray and when anyone of them runs into Tony Bologna innocently standing or walking by...give him a blast. Thank goodnes I'm not that type of person. Ahem!!!

If this PIG (oops cop) did this to innocent, harmless & un-threatening women imagine what he would do to a male he deems threatening??? ****KEEP in mind that a cop's definition of threatening behavior largely varies from the rest of us**** He is a Criminal and he got a sweet slap in the wrist. He's only sorry he was caught.. not for what he did! That's why cops feel they are above the law.. because they ARE!!!

Maybe ole Tony Bologna should come up to Vermont and learn respect for the citizens from Burlington PD. ##OCCUPYVERMONT has had only good relations with our Police!

3000 bucks a week for macing defenseless women? No wonder the NYPD is so corrupt, money for nothing mace your chicks for free, money for nothing mace your chicks for free, money for nothing mace your chicks for free. Good job Baloney.

Apologies to Dire Straits. None to Bush.

His act was criminal and should be treated as criminal, it was an assault without provocation under color of authority. He broke the law and should be prosecuted not rewarded with a slap on the wrist and a transfer to Staten Island but to Ryker's Island.

Sending this guy out to the island is not a punishment to him. the fact that he has learned nothing and regrets nothing shows he needs to see some real consequences FIRE HIM!

If you've never been to Staten Island, trust me, this is pretty severe punishment.

The thing that continues to amaze me, is that NYPD tends to be more laid back, because they are on the worlds stage ,not over emphasizing little infractions, unlike the SCPD, NCPD, where the attitudes are actually worse, if you can imagine that, almost every police officer has the attitude of Mr Bologna. Thank G-d these guys are getting exposed, maybe the next time, someone tries to get justice in court, the officers word wont be believed like it is sent from above, these guys fabricate, exaggerate, lie, brutalize and cover for each other. The blue wall is crumbling!!!!!! I will say it again NYPD isn't anywhere near as corrupt as surrounding counties. As far as compensation, that is their salary, and then add, overtime, warrant enforcement, and bonuses. Rank and file police officers make over $80, 000/yr in surrounding counties, with seniority over $120,000yr

Tony Baloney and other NYPD "White Shirts" are part of a special detail partially compensated for by Wall Street, in essence creating a private standing mini-army at their beck and call. A very lucratively compensated private army for the 1% and the gatekeepers, peons and handlers of the 1%:

Old Tony embarrassed the department so, off to his retire-in-place job until he goes. 10 vacation days for a guy that probably has a hundred on the books is not much of a fine is it ?

Or one who, like other "White Shirts" allowed to work for private concerns on the city's dime, and their NYPD remit, probably gets nice healthy "bonuses" over and unedr the table from Wall Street.

Tony B. is literally the top of the iceberg here, to what amounts to legal "bribery" of the NYPD.
