CHANDLER, Ariz. -- An Arizona mother of four has received a hand-delivered letter from a lawyer prohibiting her from setting foot in eight Phoenix-area McDonald's and threatening her with criminal trespassing charges if she did.

Chandler resident Erin Carr-Jordan has been on a national crusade to clean up fast-food play areas, claiming the pathogens she found in them threaten children's health. She is also an Arizona State University Instructor.

A McDonald's spokeswoman in Illinois says the company has and will continue to talk with Carr-Jordan in an effort to address her concerns, but added that recent actions by Carr-Jordan have become disruptive to its employees and customers.

Unless she discovered flesh eating bacteria or ecoli, I don't see the big deal. Our society is becoming germ-a-phobes to the extream. I am sure the pizza place with the pit of plastic balls has all kinds of DNA remains and germs in there. Getting a deadly infection, virus, or bacteria from a hospital visit is the 3rd largest cause of death in the US. Perhaps she should invest her efforts in the real hot spots, and not the ones that make us emotionally uncomfortable. No public playground, school bus, or money in her purse/wallet would pass her approval. Kids have strong immune systems, that's why adults that are not around them all the time usually get sick after being exposed to them (they are great carriers). So Happy Halloween to the childless and child-free couples who dare open their doors to these non-hazmat suit wearing candy seekers in a few days :)

I don't think anyone really believes that play areas at any fast food restaurants are properly cleaned on a regular basis. You kind of go to a restaurant that sells $2 hamburgers expecting the minimum. Why would anyone feel the need to properly clean that, just complain to the management or the health board and take your kids somewhere else.

I think this falls under the category of "don't do me any favors".

Also, people that feed their kids kr@p really don't care about the kr@p in the nooks and crannies in the McDs playground. They are still going to take them; even the ones that know better do it to just to shut the kids up.

I'd say use this letter to your advantage; tell your 4 kids you legally can't take them. Your kids will be better off.

If you love your children you don't take them to McDonald's. You take the time to make them a real hamburger with lean beef, make them some real french fries, and use ketchup that doesn't have HFCS in it.

There's no need to crusade, people need to get obese and suffer from staph infections as a life lesson.
