Isla Fisher As Myrtle On 'The Great Gatsby' Set (PHOTO)

Well, she certainly looks the part.

Isla Fisher, who plays the crazy aristocrat-wannabe Myrtle Wilson in Baz Luhrmann's upcoming 3D adaptation of "The Great Gatsby," was spotted on set in her ostentatious best on Tuesday. As the wife of George Wilson and the mistress of Tom Buchannan, she clearly has some major sex appeal -- and she's not afraid to show it. Also, not afraid to wear a gigantic bow.

The film is currently shooting in Australia; Leonardo DiCaprio plays Jay Gatsby; Tobey Maguire takes on Nick Carraway; and Carey Mulligan and Joel Edgerton play Daisy and Tom Buchannan, respectively.

Fisher will also star in "Desperados" in 2012, and in 2014, she'll star in "Now You See Me," the magician caper with Jesse Eisenberg, Morgan Freeman and Mark Ruffalo.

Still not understanding all of the vitriol regarding the use of 3D on this film. 3D isn't just about big action sequences. It gives incredible depth and richness to ordinary shots as well. If this film's goal is to really bring this time and place and the characters to life like never before, then why not use the latest and greatest film technology available? Surely there will be a few over the top, showy shots that aren't necessary, but I'm willing to risk it to see this classic story on the big screen for the first time in my generation.

I do, however, agree about the location. Normally wouldn't bother me, but Gatsby is just so...American. Still, I will wait and see before passing judgement.

Why, oh why for the love of God must be in 3D. I understand 3D for action movies or animated films and even with some of those types of film it doesn't work. One the greatest American pieces of literature turned into a gimmick.

The Great Gatsby 3-D? Is he going to make it a musical spectacle? sounds bizarre

leo is gatsby... garbage will ruin this classic literature.

I'm a little concerned that they (Baz Luhrmann and co.) are going to try and turn an American classic into a farce of Hollywood proportions. The Great Gatsby in 3-D? What purpose does that serve to the telling of such a great novel. The words and the backdrop provided by Fitzgerald need no fancy dressing, no smoke and mirrors. I don't think Luhrmann understands that bigger isn't always better.

are they serious about the 3-D? it's a great novel that's difficult as film material because the symbolism does not translate well and the putative heroine is so shallow and unsympathetic. do the film-makers think that 3-D is going to solve those problems.

RE: It helps to read the book.

Myrtle Wilson is not a "crazy aristocrat." In fact, she's neither.
=Myrtle, who lives with her husband above the gas station he owns in the "Valley of Ashes" (i.e., Queens), is having an affair with Tom Buchanan, the immensely rich and immensely brutish husband of the beautiful Daisy, the object of Jay Gatsby's obsessive love.
=Myrtle is desperate to leave her dull husband and her dull, lower-middle-class lifestyle, and she
sees Tom as her ticket to a better/richer life. If she's "crazy," she's "crazy like a fox."

Can someone explain why a 3D version of a Scott Fitzgerald book is necessary? Anyone? Are liquor bottles going to be flying out from the screen?

Can't you guys do even the slightest bit of research? Myrtle is not a socialite. She is a wannabe. Her husband is a mechanic that owns the garage where Tom Buchanan gets his car worked on. Myrtle is Tom's social climbing, nutty mistress.

This continues to prove that whoever is writing these bits about "The Great Gatsby" has never read the book. Last time you referred to Gatsby as a "notorious cad," which is way way off the mark. And now you call Myrtle Wilson an "aristocrat?" Are you actually familiar with the character at all? Read the book already. Quite a few people have. Or if that's too tough, catch Karen Black in the role in the 1974 movie.

These comments prove that whoever is writing these bits has never read the original story. It looks pretty obvious, and is even a hyperlink, that the text of the article says "aristocrat-wannabe" which is accurate. And Gatsby is not a cad? How would you describe him then? Perhaps it's a question of understanding the word cad. Let me help you. Gatsby is a cad. Oh, and by the way, all movie versions of the Great American Novel have been terrible. I hold out hopes for this one, but they aren't high. Some books just defy movie adaptation. OH, and 3D sucks.
