Joe The Plumber: Fan Of Herman Cain, Not Of 'Anarchists' And 'Communists' In Occupy Movement

Sam 'Joe the Plumber' Wurzelbacher sat down with MSNBC Wednesday, fresh off his official entrance into the race for Ohio's 9th congressional district, and weighed in on some current events.

In his interview, Wurzelbacher was asked his pick of the GOP primary litter.

"I like Herman right now," he responded.

Wurzelbacher also gave a very cautious assessment of Occupy Wall Street, saying that he understood the frustrations of some of the demonstrators, but that he wasn't willing to endorse the broader movement because of supposed communist, socialist and anarchist actors within it. Tea Party-backed Rep. Allen West (R-Fla.) has made similar allegations.

The Associated Press relays Wurzelbacher's path to the political spotlight:

Wurzelbacher, 37, went from toiling as a plumber in suburban Toledo three years ago to media sensation in a matter of days after questioning Obama about his tax policies and being repeatedly cited by Republican U.S. Sen. John McCain in a presidential debate.

He campaigned with McCain and his running mate, Sarah Palin, but he later criticized McCain and said he did not want him as the GOP presidential nominee.

Since then, he's kept up his anti-establishment streak, gaining favor with Tea Party groups, attending rallies and even getting elected as GOP committeeman in Ohio's Lucas County.

"I'm registered as a Republican. I'll run as a Republican. But by God that doesn't encompass who I am," he said at his campaign announcement Tuesday, according to the Los Angeles Times.

The Times reports:

Wurzelbacher is seeking the 9th District seat that has been held by Democrat Marcy Kaptur since 1983. Because of redistricting, Kaptur will likely face Rep. Dennis Kucinich in the primary, as the district has been extended eastward toward Cleveland.
