Gaddafi's Driver Huneish Nasr And Bodyguard Mansour Dao Speak Out

Moments before Muammar Gaddafi was captured in Sirte, the former Libyan ruler looked "confused," his driver told The Guardian in an interview.

Huneish Nasr served as Gaddafi's personal driver for 30 years. In a conversation with The Guardian, he describes the final moments he witnessed before being thrown in a cell in Misrata's military barracks. From The Guardian:

"Nasr said he threw his hands up in surrender as gun-toting rebels approached. He was knocked to the ground with a rifle butt, which blackened his left eye. Gaddafi was being pulled from a drainpipe just before Nasr fell. He caught a final glimpse of his master being swarmed over by rebels. Then blows rained down on them both."

Earlier this week, Mansour Dao, one of Gaddafi's bodyguards who was caught along with the former Libyan ruler, detailed Gaddafi's final weeks on the run.

According to the Associated Press, Gaddafi and his entourage were "largely cut off from the world while on the run, living in abandoned homes without TV, phones or electricity, using candles for light," and the ousted leader spent his time "reading, jotting down notes or brewing tea on a coal stove."

Dao admitted that Gaddafi and his loyalists "were scared of the airstrikes and shelling," however he maintained that Gaddafi had not been afraid.

Huneish Nasr expressed a similar sentiment. "He wasn't scared, but he didn't seem to know what to do," the driver said of Gaddafi's last stand.

"I feel sorry for him because he underestimated the situation," Dao told the Associated Press. "He could have left and gotten out of the country and lived a happy life."

Those closest to Gaddafi have painted a picture of an unafraid -- and perhaps confused -- man in his final days as he was hunted by Libyan fighters. The former Libyan leader was killed October 20, 2011, in Sirte.

A Libyan prisoner, left, is hugged by his relatives after he was released with a group of 110 prisoners from Abu Salim, Libya's most notorious prison, in Tripoli, Libya, Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2011.

Inspired by the unrest in Egypt, residents of Libya's second largest city Benghazi started protesting against the regime of long-time leader Muammar Gaddafi in February 2011. In an attempt to calm the protests, Gaddafi's government released 110 prisoners and offered to double government employees' wages. Yet protests spread to other cities and intense fighting erupted between Gaddafi loyalists and rebel fighters.

What does Libya have now ? Sharia law. The first thing for the rebels to announce was that men could now take four wives.

Gaddafi was already Islamist--he just wasn't a fundamentalist, or at least was unable to incorporate Al Qaeda into his pan-Islamic visions.

It's funny how the same neo-cons who've been foaming at the mouth for decades to take out Gaddafi suddenly pretend he was some enlightened and noble secularist now that normal Libyans (who are >95% Muslim) get to have a say in their affairs--and inevitably err towards Islam.

let's hope Gaddafi's fate as a ruthless dictator and so called himself king of Africa has caught
other dictators remaining of Middle East and rest of the world attention and hopefully they have watched the Gadadfi's sodomized videos and have learned a big lesson and not intending to follow the king's path of humulation and being treated the way the king was treated and treated his people for 42 years and for those dictators who claim they and their goverment have been chosen by God and their spiritual leader faces being seen on the moon they better prove it and place the power and authority of running their nation back into hands of their elected people before it's too late.

show me da moneyyyyy, cause I don't want to share it with no one but my OWN family!!!!! the rest of you, unless you are poor and can't get a job, should try harder to find a job and provide for your familyyyyyy! I saved all my life for something like what this country is experiencing (economic chaos)...and I have more than enough to retire with my wife and live comfortably to old age!!!! Do we need a new direction for our country? do we re-elect Obama? do we have a real GOP candidate that can beat Obama in 2012? do we? do we? do we? hummmmm, for sure we need a new direction for our country, but I don't see it in Obama or any of the GOP candidates so far, and forget about Sarah Palin or Donald "Fox rug" Trump....we need a president with "cojones" that can lead us to prosperity, a president that can stand against any country in the world and not be afraid, a president that understand the people, a president that can work with small and big businesses, a president that can lead us to be "numero uno" in education in the world!, a president that can work with both parties and with the people!!!! who do I have in mind for this job?.... MEEEEEEE! ;-) hopefully we can find one for 2012

Of course there is. I would like to hear from a rebel talk about his payment to be a sniper. You didn't think that the rebels worked for free ?

They fled near the beginning of the conflict--and with unusual speed, given that they were supposed to be some kind of invincible fighters. It seems the only things they did were to irritate everyone at conferences Gaddafi attended and provide Gaddafi with a little extra relaxation *wink* *nod* every now and then.

Saddam in a hole in the ground and Gaddafi in a pipe?
Similar behaviors after years of terrorizing their people.

Huneish Nasr, Gaddafi's personal driver is going to make this his theme song:

If people believe his story, Nasr is going to be singing it all the way to the bank and to stardom.

I abhor his alleged brutal end, but its all relative - am sick of thugs like idi amin etc. dying peacefully in their beds after murdering millions. Perhaps this is instructive for future such leaders and for the betterment of humanity.
04:16 PM on 10/30/2011
Good point. It is just that Idi Amin had a better escape plan and was more lucky.

ta - but my point remains - perhaps u reinforce it - the world is expedient in the end but spends trillions until the endgame

perhaps better put - the world spends trillions on bringing about the endgame & is then expedient - e.g. poland in ww2
