Lemon Green Beans with Almonds

- 1 pound green beans
- 1/4 cup sliced almonds
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 1/2 teaspoon finely grated lemon zest
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice, or to taste
- Trim green beans, then cut diagonally into 1-inch pieces. Cook beans in a 4-quart pot of boiling salted water until crisp-tender, about 5 minutes, then drain well.
- Meanwhile, toast almonds in oil in a medium heavy skillet over moderate heat, stirring, until golden, about 3 minutes. Toss beans with almonds and oil, lemon zest and juice and salt and pepper to taste.
